I was soo looking forward to this! Was all nervous for the last week for some reason.

I can't say the heart sounded like a galloping horse - I thought it's more like a fast air pump :) Funny.

My husband went with me (when mw saw us together in the waiting room, she said we can both come in), which was very nice. He seemed to enjoy it :)

So pleased!! :)

Glad everything went well hunny, ive got mine this afternoon x x

How exciting... I have mine tomorrow afternoon. Am so looking forward to hearing the heartbeat.... Am taking my OH with me as he is just as excited about hearing the hartbeat as I am....

Got my long list of questions to ask too. :)

Ah that's nice, glad all was good. I'm jealous of everyone getting a 16 week app I'm not getting one til 24 weeks! Have heard babies heart on my Doppler though luckily!

i.love, thats great news, I loved hearing my babies hb, so lovely. I got to listen to it twice in 2 days too as when I went to my Dr for my swab she listened then too for me, bless her )

M2A - Good luck for this afternoon hun xxx

Chookette - Good luck for tomorrow xxx

Sarah13, oh wow, still a long wait then... Well I guess you're gonna have your 20w scan before then? It's much more exciting anyway :)

DW1978, oh that's nice :) I want to hear it again already!! :)

Yeah, 20 week scan is a month before! They changed the system up here recently so everything done at 12 weeks

Was thinking I might try and record the heartbeat on my phone... Do you think the midwife will let me do it. :) That way I can listen to it whenever I want...

i am the same.... the mw said she doesnt do it before 24 weeks as it can be tricky to find..... well i have to say its not.... find it super easy on my home doppler! its such a cool thing to hear though..... the umbilical cord makes a weird sound too and you can see why they say wave noises are good for the aby to calm to after birth with the placenta sounding like it does.

That's a good idea! I think she might... Though we listened to it only for some 30 secs or so, but if we wanted to listen a bit longer (so we could record it), mw probably wouldn't mind. She was a bit rushed though - they only allow 20 mins per appointment (after the first appointment at 8 weeks, which was 1 hour long).

I recorded hb on my Doppler and emailed it to my hubby last week!

Ive just got back from my midwife appointment, I got to listen to baby too :) She also measured my fundal height and i was 17cm which she said is spot on. She doesnt want to see me until 28 weeks now x x

M2A, nice :) did you think the baby sounded like a galloping horse or an air pump? :)

my mw didn't measure me, but she felt my tummy and seemed happy with everything. Anyway, however I measure, I can't really do anything about it, can I :)

Im not to sure really it was abit like a train, it was alot slower than it was when i heard it at 13 weeks but the midwife said thats normal as baby starts to grow.
There is an old wives tale that links the sound/speed of the heartbeat to the gender. My little boys sounded like a train so we will find out whether its true for me tomorrow :)
Dont think they normally measure until around 25weeks think it depends on which midwife you see but if she felt you im sure everything is ok otherwise she would of said something x x

train? hmmm :) maybe I'm having a girl then, I don't think it sounded like a train :D

Congrats i.love! I've got to wait til 24th before I can hopefully hear mine! Think I've been feeling movement the past week or so, so that's good and exciting! :)
