I decided that Tyler needs to watch more meals as we're going to be BLW. (and also get him used to EBM) This morning (as my OH is off work sick) we put some EBM in a tommee tippee beaker and sat him in the seat part of his buggy on its stand (haven't brought our high chair yet!) at the table and first thing he did was put it straight into his mouth!

Admitidly after he turned it upside down and sucked the wrong end :eh: but it's a start!

:yay: we have been sitting K in her highchair (it has a newborn recline position) while we eat for a few weeks. I know you were having trouble getting Tyler to take a bottle. We are having the same issue. Will he drink from the beaker at all or just play with it?

That's brilliant!!! I started with N the same way, we'd sit him in his highchair when we ate with a sippy cup and a toy, then as it got nearer to 6 myths we would let him reach out for food off our plates as he never actually tried to eat it, then when the time came to put food in front of him he was used to going in his highchair and sort of used to the concept of mealtimes, although he saw it as a fun game and still does!!!!!

Eeeh I bet you can't wait its such fun!!!! Apart from the constant washing up and mopping of floors lol!!!

Well he wasn't drinking from it but using this new BLW attitude towards it we've had better results! We've sat him with us for 2 meals today and by lunch he was putting his beaker to his mouth and taking from it but as to if he was drinking we're not sure yet. Baby steps eh?

Measure exactly how much you put in & how much is left, that should give u an idea if he's taking any

xxxxxxx

Well done Tyler :D

The nursery nurse that came to visit told me to put Sophie's in a tommee tippee cup as soon as she can coordinate enough to use it. How does that work when it comes to night feeds :/? X

He's EBF I haven't replaced any feeds with EBM as we're just playing and learning that milk doesn't just come from mum. I'm also starting to get him involved in dinner time with his 'food' at the table with the family. Eventually I'm hoping to be able to leave him with a beaker of milk with someone knowing he'll feed but there's no rush about these things :)

We started Kynon in the same way, its good for them to be included at meal times, i sometimes gave K water as he used to waste the breast milk too much and it annoyed me!

There is nothing quite as heartbreaking as a spilt drop of ebm!!!!

I know! I hate it being wasted! I even brought ready made formula for him to practice with, didn't seem so bad throwing that away even though it cost money and breast milk is free lol!

I remember once oh defrosted and heated up a bottle of ebm then didn't use it so it had to be tipped down the sink, think I cried for a week over that!! Lol!! It takes ages to express, every drop is a minute on the pump!!!!! Now we are on formula I couldn't care less if Lo doesn't want to finish a bottle!!!!!

That's wonderful he looks so grown up taking a cup!

Got me thinking about buying a high chair now, wanted one for ages because I have L in the room with me while I cook.

The nursery nurse suggested we start with a TT sippy cup now as Chloe's co-ordination is so controlled already. We bought a mamas and papas snug at the weekend for Chloe to sit in, she sits in the middle of the table (constantly supervised of course) and has been watching us eat so funny to see lol. Because it has a tray we pop her cup on the tray and leave her to do as she wishes with it. She picks it up, puts the correct end in her mouth then decides the bottom of the cup is much nicer to chew on. Also decided it would be fun to watch mummy and daddy pick the cup off the floor 50 or so times lol.
