Thought I'd better get my birth story up while its all fresh in my memory and I have a few mins to spare while Jake sleeps and Sophia watches cbeebies lol.
I was woken up at around 4am on St Patricks Day with a contraction. It wasnt overly painful or anything but they were coming every 10mins lasting roughly 30 seconds. I managed to get a little bit more sleep but was woken up quite a bit with contractions until I got up with Sophia at 7am.
Made breakfast and told dh that I'd been having small contractions all morning but neither of us got too excited.
We got showered and ready and at around 10.30am left to go to my mums as it was her birthday that day. Told my mum I'd been having contractions and she got so excited at the thought of her grandson being born on her bday lol.
Over the next hour or so my 3 brothers, their spouses and children arrived at my mums to see her for her bday and although my contractions were a tiny bit stronger, they weren't bad enough to interrupt anything and most of the time no1 else in the room knew when I was having one.
Then, at about 12.50, I felt a pop like an elastic band ping in my tummy - it was my water breaking!! I stood up and felt it leaking all over me and had to announce to my entire family that my waters had just popped lol.
So we kissed Sophia and left her with my parents while dh took me home to get cleaned up and phone the hospital.
The mw told me not to come in yet cuz my contractions weren't strong enough but I told her I wanted to get checked and she said I could come in but she would probably send me home. Got to the hospital and was examined and I was 5cm - in ur face snooty mw!! Lol. They phoned my mw in who was on call and left me in the admissions unit for about 45mins!! My contractions were getting stronger and dh went to tell the mw to get me some g&a. I was really annoyed at just being left for so long but I was given g&a in the admissions triage room as my mw still hadn't arrived.
Then I was told my mw had arrived and that they were bringing me to the delivery suite. This meant having to leave the g&a and I had a few very long painful contractions in the lift and hallway on my way to the delivery suite lol.
But I got to my room, hopped over the bed and got back on the g&a and Jake was born at 15.44.
He weighed 8lb 10oz and I didn't need any stitches as I just had a small graze. Very proud of myself lol.
Left hospital just after 8pm and watched OBEM with a cuppa tea and some toast lol.
We're so happy and in love with him and Sophia is doing great at adapting to the change.
I have attached some pics of our little heartbreaker xox
