I'M SORRY FOR THE VERY LATE POST...

what a time we've had.... well i'd like to welcome JACOB NIALL to the forum...

As you all know i went into hospital Fri 11th to be induced after my sweep the day before not working for me.... anyway i had my first pessary at 10pm... second at 5am.... at 11am Sat i was moved into my own room, at this stage i hadn't had one pain.. The other 3 girls who had their first pessary with me where now on gas n air and one had a shot of pethadine. I was eating a chicken baguette... I was put on a monitor and given the drip to start me off... about an hour later i felt mild back ache so popped my tens on. A further hour later my back ache was begining to annoy me.. getting slightly worse. The tens wasn't for me - was a bit annoying... around 3pm Sat the midwife decided to check me over... I was having mild contractions and serious back ache... at this stage i was tired and hoping she'd tell me i was about 3cm but NO... still 0cm. I had an internal where the midwife tried to break my waters.. she tried and tried but couldn't.... so they increased my drip to the max and left me a few more hours... contractions getting a little more painful.. i was now on gas n air... around 6pm a huge midwife with hands like a boxer  had another go at breaking my waters, i was still 0cm... i screamed the place down.. she was so rough with me but still she couldn't break my waters. A further 2 hours on at 8pm another midwife checked me over.. i'm now really tired, hungry and getting very impatient and in pain... she had the daintiest of hands and after a good 30 mins managed to break my waters and make me 1/2cm dilated... i was now having full blown contractions and sucking like mad on the gas and air - which is amazing! :D they check me over every 4 hours but i was still not progressing.... at 4am sunday morning i was screaming for an epidural as contractions where so strong. At this point i'd been 30 hours... i was so worn out... the epidural took 16cm to insert as i don't have any gaps between my spine (something else i found out) this was awful... i was shaking, i had 2 midwifes and my mum holding me still, my husband holding gas n air to my face. I was then able to sleep for the last few hours... at 8am sunday they checked me over and i'd gone from 1/2cm to 1cm   .... the hospital finally gave up on me and rushed me off for a C section.... Jacob was born at 8.45am....

I'm sure Tankett has updated you all about our little scare with Jacob. He was taken from away Monday as he was bring up green bile... they had drips and monitors all over him. A tube up his nose going into his stomach. He was put in an incubator as they where not feeding him and his temp dropped... they did a lung puncture and x rays on him as they thought this green bile was something serious... he was being fed sugar water and anti biotics... i was in a terrible state... But finally Thursday evening they gave him the all clear and i was given him back... He was 5 days old at this stage, his weight had dropped from 7.7 to 7.1 - he is now eating and putting weight back on...

He is absolutely gorgeous and we are totally besoted with him... He is so good. Never cries, sleeps brilliantly and just adorable... I'm so in love with him.. worth every pain and every minute of my horrible labour..

I'm recovering really well from the section... this is the first time i've had a minute to pop on and update you all.. got out of hospitla yesterday late evening... i'm dying to read Anna Maries birth story and see pictures of the beautiful Lana... i've probably missed loads so i'm looking forward to catching up...

What a nightmare, all those pains and no dilation.

I think I've met that midwife with the hands like a boxer! I had an identical experience.

Glad it's all over for you and you can enjoy your new son.

i swear the hands where like shovels... i ask my DH if she had rings on because she was so rough and it actually felt like something was cutting into me... DH said it wasn't her rings it was her watch... :rotfl: :rotfl:
