Hi ladies,
I'm hopping over here from the long term TTC thread. I'm currently in the stressed out 2WW following IVF and I've only got enough pregesterone pessaries to last me up to test day. If we are lucky and get a positive test I expected to continue with pregesterone up until at least the 7 week scan because that seems to be the chat on all the forums. My clinic have said that if I get a positive test my body will be producing it by then and I won't need any pessaries. That is worrying me because prior to starting IVF one of my issues was spotting in the run up to my period so I always believed I had an issue with low pregesterone.

If you had successful IVF (longer version with downregging and then stimms) how long did you take pregesterone for?

Thanks,
Bambi x

Hi Bambi, I've got no experience with IVF but my progesterone levels were a bit low at my 21 day bloods prior to my first pregnancy so I was prescribed progesterone from ovulation until af or 13 weeks when I got my bfp. It's no problem to take progesterone as a precautionary measure and if it would put your mind at rest I'd suggest pushing your clinic to get some more. Better safe than sorry! Xx

@Unicorn I think I will try and push for it. Just need to get the bfp first. Thanks for taking the time to reply x

Sorry I didn't end up going through IVF in the end - so I won't be that much help!

I also thought I had a progesterone issue as I had a short LP (9 - 10 days) and convinced that it just dropped off so rapidly it couldn't sustain a pregnancy. My FS said that after a BFP on letrozole I might need progesterone support for a few weeks. I did get a BFP but the clinic were super weird and wouldn't see me anymore because it wasn't an IVF BFP and told me to go to my GP instead!

I didn't mention anything about the progesterone to the GP because the tests were fine and I highly doubted they would give it to me. Which was a good decision, as I now know that my body can produce enough progesterone on it's own.

So I can see the value of having progesterone for peace of mind - but there may be some value in letting your body do it's thing too! I think you might know what you need deep down x

Also - good luck this cycle! Sending you lots of baby dust! :dust:
