I wasn’t really sure where to put this...and I guess it’s mostly FAO IVF ladies...

Do you go by LMP or egg collection date to work out your estimated due date? I was going by my LMP which makes me 7+5 (as it says on my ticker below), but after my first scan the other day at the fertility clinic, they said they work it out from the date my eggs were collected, and that I’m only 7+3. I know it’s only 2 days but I was a bit miffed.

What are your experiences please? Thanks :)

You go by egg collection date as it's completely accurate. LMP is a guesstimate based on a typical 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14 which not everyone has hence why dates based on LMP are usually changed at the dating scan! x

I think I just don’t know enough about cycles to figure that out! I find it all so confusing!

Thanks for clarifying sweetie :)

Better change my ticker........

Regarding this... when I go for my booking in appointment on Monday, are they going to take my word that I know my EDD or will they want to work it out from my LMP like they would with normal women?

Egg collection date is definitely correct. If I went by LMP there would have been a really big difference in dates! When I seen the midwife she asked my lmp and I told her it was an ivf pregnancy and she took my own date straight away, but did say they would wait until my 12 week scan to accurately date me. By egg collection I should be due 28th of December but by my scans I measured a day ahead so I'm due the 27th. I was happy to take any date closer to the finishing line  xx

I have found midwives aren't massively clued up on how ivf works. If you tell them it's ivf they should work off the date the clinic has given you based on egg collection. Some trusts won't change an ivf due date at the dating scan but mine do and I was put forward one day despite knowing this wasn't right (I was glad to be put forward though!). It's a bit of a minefield as different areas have different policies with ivf pregnancies x

Yep, go by your egg collection date. Although at my scans my EDD was moved also forward 2 days.

Thanks everyone xx

I had my booking appointment on Monday and they were happy to take my due date rather than working it out from LMP. I’m happy with that :)
