After this morning post regarding weaning babies spitting food out, and not wanting to eat things they used to (i.e- mushed rusks in milk)

Today has been a disaster.
I haven't forced anything on him and just let him feed when he needed.
he usually has at least 5 8oz bottles, mushed rusks, and an evening baby food.

Today he had a spoonful or rusk mushed, and only 3 8lz bottles.. for the whole day!!!

I fear like i've scared him and now he doesn't want to eat anything because his experiences of late haven't been too tasty.. Now he's starved himself!

I have completely FAILED on this weaning job! :( SO FRIGGIN TOUGH to know!!!!

No hun you haven't failed :( Maybe he's having just an off day!! Stanley had plenty when we started!! Also other things can put them off, maybe teeth?? Or just a little under the weather!!

Don't be disheartened hun, it'll prob be ok tomorrow!! :D

xxxx

Thanks hun i just feel because he's refusing the food after doing so well for 3-4 weeks, i've misread my own child, and now im not sure where to go.

He hasn't been himself since his injections last week to be fair though, and his teeth have been threatening to come through for a good month or so, so perhaps its just a combination of those and the weather being too hot to rly be eating (yes i blame hot weather for not wanting food!)...

I'm just having a weird wobbly day today me thinks.. A mole hill would deffo be a mountain in my eyes today! x

i was gonna say the weather might have something to do with it hun, have you tried offering him cold melon or banana to suck on? teething can do funny things to them too and sometimes they just go off things for a day or so. dont panic hun x

Aww trust me I have plenty of days like that! If I read correctly you're a single mummy, me too!! Stanley has not had much today come to think of it, he'll prob be up at 3 hungry lol maybe the teeth are on the way! Stanley been teething since he cut first one at 16 weeks been a nightmare!!!

This place is a godsend when I'm having wobbly days lol xx

lol Bev, i thought i was the only one who thought the weather shrinks the appetite. I think i'll go back to the beginning tomorrow bottles only, if he still isn't satisfied and putting hands in his mouth, i'll try some cold banana, if it's teething cold things will help too i suppose. Thanks!

Yah, im a singleton hun! I feel so strong and invincible most days, just get one like this hits me like a train & everything i'm annoyed at surfaces. Just silly things and simple stuff like having someone to debate things at home with, like, should I be weaning him now? is he teething? You know all these kind of things. it's seriously ridiculous!... We're doing a great job really though!

Yeah, im thining he may wake around 4am ish needing a bottle, i'll be surprised if he lasts till 7 like he usually does.

It must be good and bad thing getting all the teeth at once though i guess, you know the drama's immense but you got it all in one go, so they're out of the way? Maybe? See things like this im oblivious about and wonder what the hell i'm doing looking after a child lmao!!..

I just PREY a tooth pops out this week or week after, just to settle my thoughts and give me self a pat on the back for being right. :\

Midwife programme on BBC 2 now, may end up having a great big cry :) x

I didn't respond to your first thread, but don't panic, G did exactly this, I went to work last week and between 1
9.30 and 2pm she had 3oz of EBM!!! And was quite off her food as well, but this week she can't get enough in her mouth!!!

It could be loads of things, weather, teeth, a phase - don't stress over it, just keep an eye, I'd say G was like this for a good few days.
X

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

Yeah, thanks. I'm going on the combination of bit of everything idea to help snap me out of it.

Just an update, he's much better today, he woke at 2:30am as i thought but didn't want food and went straight back to sleep. Had bottle and mushed rusk as normal today :) Yippee

Glad he back to normal but don't stress hun its quite normal for them to have off days when weaning this'd I freaked my self out when Kayla went off her food shortly fter loving it but then switched back to being greedy monster lol

Cam goes off food when he's teething - normally he's a food monster lol!
You haven't failed. You're recognising that he's protesting a bit and thinking what could be up, all part and parcel of the guessing game that is being a mummy xx

yea, thanks! you guys are a lot of help! id of been crying my eyes out otherwise lol. x
