So on the 29th April I was having irregular contractions throughout the day which weren't awful but could definitely feel them, I had a sweep booked with MW on the 30th April so I decided to wait til then before doing something about it! I went for my sweep still having pains and it I was 1cm dilated and MW was very happy with the sweep and was hopeful I wouldn't need my induction on Saturday!
When I got home after approx 1hr the pain became more intense but I was able to breath through each contraction and they slowly got closer together and more regular. Eventually at 1am I went to the hospital to get checked only to be told I was 2cm dilated but cervix was very soft, however because baby was back to back she wasn't putting enough pressure on cervix for it to open or stay dilated.
I was absolutely gutted as I had I been in so much pain, so anyway we went home and as soon as I stepped in the door well the pain was incredible, i was literally wailing at every contraction my poor neighbours were probably horrified!!
So another day without any sleep the contractions continued however they never became regular but they were definitely more intense, by around 1430hrs my hubby said to me to go to hospital but I was sure that it would be a waste of time as baby was back to back and I was probably being a big wuss. At 1500hrs I called the hospital and as soon as I started to talk to midwife I had a huge contraction and passed the phone to mum who was told by hospital to bring me in.
So once again we got everything ready the journey in the car felt like it was about 3hrs however it was only 20mins. I got to the hospital got seen by a lovely midwife who examined me and said 'well we'd better get you settled you're 5cm dilated!'
I could not believe it!! I was sooo happy and proud of myself that I barely even felt the next contraction!
The MW took us all through to the birthing unit where I was given a room with a pool Tv etc it was lovely! I got on the gas n air And sat on a birthing ball and started working through the contractions. I have to admit it became a little bit easier, I managed to get myself into a rhythm with it all and worked through. I was checked again at 7 and told I was 7cm dilated, and midwife suggested trying the pool.
This was when it all went downhill lol.
I couldn't get comfy in the pool and the contractions just became too painful, at 8pm I asked for pethidine to try, and it then also dawned on me I was way too gone for an epidural, and if I'm honest I always imagined doingg the last bit with an epidural as the thought of pushing a baby out terrified me!
I had the pethidine and the rest is abit of a blur lol. At 2030hrs I started to feel the urge to push which at first I refused to do, I have been informed this is where the devil seemed to come out in me!
So I pushed and then I was told well done the heads out! I couldn't believe it, then she started crying whilst half in me and half not which was a very strange feeling!
Then at 2112hrs on the 01/05/2014 my baby girl Isabelle Baker was born weighing 7lb8oz, I did suffer with a 2nd degree tear as she came out with her hand by her face but it's all worth it! I just can't wait to feel like myself again!!
I couldn't believe I'd done it, and I'm gunna be honest I was so proud of myself! My mum and husband were in there with me and I couldn't of done it without them!
Now life as a mummy is terrifying and I feel like I'm really wingin my way through it but I wouldn't change a thing!
Sorry if it's abit boring but I literally just typed what I thought!
Thanks for all the support everyone! Xxx
