Is the Carry Cot part of travel system a waste of money?

Hi girlies, I am going tomorrow to order & pay for my pram. I have chosen the Icandy Peach Travel System.

At the minute I feel like the carrycot part is a total waste of money. It costs £195 so I want to be sure I am making the right decision. My sister bought a carrycot and to be honest, at almost 6 weeks old it looks like her daughter won't get much more use out of it....

As it stands at minute I have a travel cot bassinet for my baby to sleep in downstairs and a glider crib for him/her to sleep in by our bed. I also have the option of a moses basket if I want one. I will also have the nursery ready by time baby is born.

I really can't see the need for a carry cot - what do you all think?

i havent got a carry cot but my seat part lies flat like a carry cot. they recommend something they can lie flat in for the 1st couple of months at least rather than a car seat too much. xxx

ahhh I really don't know what to do. My instinct says don't buy it - I also just checked ebay and there are plenty of them for sale which also tells me they aren't a necessity...... I will decide in shop in morning I think...... that way I can't go back on what I decide............

I had one-was good to start with but they do only last for a bit. Depends on how much you think you're going to use it and whether the pram bit lies flat-the advice is that LO should lie flat.

However me n the fella have split so I've got the carry cot bit now so he can take that n baby n sleep in it when she's there x x

Other the that no I would not of got it, it's more of a " look thing" coz for being practical it won't last that long n if u already have Moses basket n cot then no need really x

I don't think I would've bothered with the carrycot bit if MIL hadn't insisted on it (my in-laws bought it for us). I know babies aren't supposed to be in the carseat for long periods of time because it's not good for their little backs, but if you don't plan on going on long walks I wouldn't bother with the carrycot. x

I have the i candy peAch system, and we bought carrycot as well. Babies need to lie totally flat until they are about 6 months old. The pushchair bit doesn't allow this. I would get it. Well, I did!! Lol...

Awww I love my carrycot that comes with our pram and think baby will deffo be wrapped up warm in the carrycot during the winter x

Same here, we got it coz the woman in the shop explained the other bit doesn't lie completely flat. To be honest though I don't drive and intend on walking places as much as possible so it's gonna get quite alot of use for us hopefully.

I use the.carry cot bit the most I love it. He is so comfy in it. Sleeps better than in cat seat too. X x

Yeah - we got the carry cot part for our travel system. It lies flatter than the nornal buggy seat that says it lies flat but not completely. Also they have to be strapped in if just using the seat flat and we liked the idea of them being able to snuggle in the carry cot as a pram without being strapped in when out for walks. It also means that if we go somewhere and little one is asleep we can just take the carry cot off the chassi and they can stay asleep and snuggled without being disturbed. Think there is something special about a baby in a pram too!

I have the mamas and papas sola and we have chosen to get the carrycot for it, just because i think our little one will be more cosy and warm as it is going to be winter. I also like the look of it on the pram!

My mum has had five kids...she swears that if babies get used to sleeping flat in the carry cot when they're wee, they sleep better at night too It also is better for their wee backs I think xxx

I've got a carry cot on my pram.. That was one of the reasons we bought it, as I don't drive I will be walking pretty much everywhere so wanted him to be comfy! xx

I didn't think of that! I suppose they would sleep better on their backs if they're used to being on their backs
I suppose LO will be a lot cosier in the carrycot, but they are very expensive. As long as we get plenty of use out of it I won't mind, and as long as baby is happy and cosy

I got the carrycot bit coz the seat unit is from 6months but I really wanted one anyway this time as its my 3rd baby and we have never had one b4 and I love the look of them it looks lovely and comfy for baby to sleep in while we r out for strolls in the park during the summer x

I ended up going with my gut instinct and didn't buy the carrycot. The girl in shop says that some people only get about 2 months out of them. I have decided to buy a nursery glider chair with the money that would have been for the carry cot - I will get much more use out of it and it will look great in the nursery when its finished!

I wasn't going to buy the carry cot either as I'd really rather use a sling for the first few months anyway. But having had a chat with OH we decided to buy it anyway just so that the grandparends (his mum will be staying with us for two months after LO is born, and my mum will visit) get the chance to go for walks with the baby etc.

PS - I'm getting the glider chair too! It was so comfy when I sat in it at the shop that now I really don't think I can do without one
