Is it possible I could be pregnant?

Hey Im new on here so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Sorry if a babble or give too much info but im in a bit of a panic.

I am 21 and been with my partner for 3 years..this has never happened before as I am usually very careful.

I have been using the contraceptive patch, but on my second week of the month I took it off as I was wearing a tight dress to my partners graduation and when i looked in the loos mirrors you could see the outline off it through the dress (I wear the patch on my bottom and it looked like I had a big plaster on my bum lol). I was then supposed to have replaced it straight away with another patch, which would have been week 3, but i forgot which then made me come on my period earlier than I should.

Okay so heres the tricky bit....I waited till the following week when i came off my period before i started another packet and put on week 1 and had sex with my partner a couple days after.

I only thought about it the other day but Im sure if you mess up the patch you are advised to take precautions for a week (which i did not). Also i don't know if it would really matter as the patch prevents you from ovulating so i dont even know if i would have ovulated.

Can anybody shed some light? I know its really confusing and ive been really clumsy and careless but any help would be appreciated.

Hey.....
It works like you say the same way as the pill... if you miss one you are supposed to take extra precautions for the next 7days....

contraceptives work so that the less you have/take the less effective eg... in THEORY but NO WAY CORRECT.... (lol) pill is 99%... if you miss one you move down to 94% if you missed LOADS... 40something% etc etc...

so... it is possible that you could be pregnant but the chances are lower as you have had some form or contraception in your system.....

because of when you had your period etc you may have confused your cycle and ovulation...

Im sorry Its not much help... but in direct answer YES its POSSIBLE.... but in a perfect world... unlikely...

best things to do is leave it 2-3 weeks and test!

Hi Liz and welcome to PF. I dont have any experience with the patch so i cannot offer any advice im afraid. Do you know when your next AF(period) is due?

Hey thanks for your replies..its all just so confusing haha. my AF is due 19th so week today. I know you said its probably unlikely but im worrying that much im sure im making up pregnancy symptoms im not really having haha x

Ohhhh try not to panic... at the end of the day either way there isn't really anything you can do until you get an accurate response on a test and unfortunately they aren't very accurate until the day AF is due
Haham I know the feeling Ive been there myself, way that I look at it is... "generally" pregnancy symptoms don't begin for a few weeks so it probably is in my head!

It's a bit of a worry for you I can see - I have never heard of this patch thingy, sounds a great idea tho, and hopefully it was stopping ovulation like you say so sounds safer , but always a chance I guess. I always got preg symptoms from week 3 of cycle if preg, so keep an eye out and good luck for testing for whichever result you wish for - let us know how you get on
