Im a bit confused, Im supposed to go to see my midwife every two weeks etc end of my pregnancy, but the last two times I havent seen my midwife when I booked into check ups, but just random GP's and I was hoping to get to speak to midwife before I give birth as I have a few questions, gutted ended up with a doctor yesterday that I didnt feel like talking to about my problems ( I suffer from anxiety) so next app will be week 40 but not sure if I even get to see my midwife then?

That's strange, I would have thought you would have seen a midwife. Can you not ring them direct and make an appointment?

yes its not only me I see, the GP and midwife seems to swap between patiens, some get to go into the midwife some go to GP.. ?? Always really busy too...

that does seem strange! :o and not fair on you. My midwife comes to my home and at the moment I am seeing her every two weeeks.I really hope you can get to see her as surely there are going to qestions you need to know and things to discuss. xx

Oh sounds like you have a good midwife, I have hardly seen mine and I have been trying to speak to GPs about my anxiety for labour and been told to just go to hospital for a "Stork walk" etc, not very happy about it. Next appointment is when im week 40 and I could have had the baby by then lol... x

I have anxiety too, I see a seperate consultant for this luckily. I cant believe how much care varies from town to town and different parts of UK. But i really really think and hope you can get the personal care you need. I only went to the docs once for my preg when i first found out i was preg, i was booked into to see a nurse and she said ' i dont know why you are seeing me i dont specialise in prgenancy go see a midwife!'lol charming but my midwife i have her mobile number and everything. Have never needed to bother her but that has helped calm my anxiety as i know shes just a phone call away.Do you know anyone else that's had a baby by you to see whether you should be expecting midwife or not?.xxx

As I see, the other pregnant women in there see the GPS too, the GP i had last time was lovely, very supportive and told me all about pain relief etc, but the midwife seems to be constantly stressed and never had a good communication with her from start on. She came home once, but just had a go at me for drinking too much coffee lol.. This pregnancy has been very stressful and I feel I have done everything completly wrong; stressing, taking medications (been suffering from badly headaches, allergy etc) just got flu now and I have been taking limsip and just found out IM NOT supposed to take them, just really gutted and hope this baby is all good :( Going to visit hospital maybe hopefully they can help me talk through things about pain relief etc, as my last birth was hard and I was denied pain relief I am a bit concerned same thing will happen this time.. Although I hope i dont need any pain relief..!

Yes can believe how it vary from town to town, but Im not complaining as where I am from (Scandinavia) you are lucky to get to see a midwife at all during pregnancy, and they let u go overdue 3 weeks, and its not much pain relief offered when u are in labour.. So for me I think things are just fantastic over here lol!

ive never seen the same midwife and the last midwife i so was 3 weeks ago, i see the next one on my due date. some places have a strange system x x

Yes guess it all works out differntly from place to place.. most important for me is to get checked baby is all fine xx

omg im so shocked! I know one of the reasons you are meant to see the same one is so they get to know if you are in a general well state and when they measure the bump its better if the same person does this.I think im never going to say a word against my midwife again i feel quite lucky now! But gutted that everyone doesnt get the same xx

MY OH just called midwife and she is popping around 4ish today to talk to me now, thats nice:) x

Thats great :) try not to worry much about the things you have took, when i found out i was pregnant i think i was nearly 3 months gone, I was still taking contraceptive pill, a strong sleeping medication, smoking and the odd drink heer and there and had been taking antibiotics when i actally conceieved!, obviously i stopped all this starightaway. I started to feel ridden withgiult and if anything went wrong i would blame myself etc. But the fact is i never knew i was pregnant and Mw reassureed me how strong a lil baba actually is. They gave me one example of a Druggy who had been taking allsorts and found out she was preg at 6 months and had a healthy baby. that made me feel abit better :) our lil babas are so so strong and it took me while to realise thisxxxx

MrsHakaxjdx- you from preston lancs? (Just trying to get an idea of what to expect when we have ours lol)
Just keep getting on at them about it, at the end of the day they have a duty of care and even if 'thats just how its done' to them - boot them and bully them into listening to you if you have to! Anyone in the care professions should be able to jump to when a patient says they need something - if they can't or wont, they're in the wrong profession xxx Hope things are going a little better for you atm xxxxxxxxx

Scandicmum how strange! I always see the mw. Glad she will be coming to see you though - it will be even better environment to talk to her at your home
