Hi Ladies,

My cycle is usually 28-34days but my most recent cycle was my longest yet at 40 days. Looking at my chart (copy in my TTC journal) my body tried to OV on CD19 as I would have expected but must have struggled and therefore tried again exactely a week later on CD26 successfully.

I just wanted to know if your body struggled to Ov 1st time round and then tries again if anyone knows why this might be? What kind of things stop the egg from being released? And also if its happened once does it make it more likely that it will happen to me again often during future cycles or is it often a one off?

xxx

I have read that a woman can OV two times in one cycle. Which is how we get twins. :) Sounds like this may have been what happened. wish I had a better answer for you. Xx

wow... I've never heard that before! I have no idea, but so want it to be true hehe.. I prefer the idea of ov'ing twice in one cycle rather than the idea of struggling first time round. I might have to do a bit of research on it all. Thanks for replying hun I'm defo going to look into that xxx

I just did some homework lol & apparently that is true it can happen that way but usually when more than one egg is released within 24 hours apart from each other so are still released within the same ovulation period... The research seems a little more controversial as to whether or not you can actually ovulate on two completely separate occasions within the same cycle (as in like mine being a week apart) xx

Oh ok. Well thanks for filling me in hun. :) good to know these things. ;)

Stress! big factor for causing delayed ovulation....and you had plenty of it this cycle lets be honest!

hopefully you can have a more relaxed cycle this month.;)

hey hun

i suffer with irregular cycles and ovulation...the first 2 cycles after coming off the pill were normal then they went haywire and have continued to do so every since october....my cycles range fro 24 days - 80 days (though they are usually around 60ish days)
I found my body would show all the signs of ovulating but woodnt be able to.

Because of this the fertility specialist has put me on clomid

If i were you i would keep a record of your cycles and then if they show no improvement after a few cycles and are still really long book to visit your gp xxx

Thank you ladies, helpful as ever :) I will continue to monitor my cycles & see what happens next time round xx

Hey Janine. I'm not sure if this is helpful for you but I have started taking royal jelly capsules. (HAve posted in another thread)I have read many articles saying that taking it supports the health of your ovaries encouraging ovulation and also improving egg quality. It has lots of other health benefits too including balancing hormones and increasing libido-In woman and men. I have only started taking so have yet to experience!

That sounds like something along the lines of what I read. :)
