I have started slowly as Ellis is not 7 months yet anyway but.....

Everytime he has anything with texture he pukes!!
If he eats toast bread etc he will chew it then spit it out.

Did anyones little ones not take well to lumps and what did you do to help.

Thanks

Keely

Try runny lumpy foods first. Harley loves spagetti. its easy as they just swallow it

Hi Keely,

I started introducing lumpy food a few weeks ago,Mia was also spiting it out and gagging on it....but slowly shes got better.

You could try Ellis with some Cous cous, i tried this last week mixed with chicken & veg-thought Mia was going to spit it out as it's a funny texture but she really liked it!

Otherwise just really slowly start making his food just a little lumpy- i've also been grating bits of fruit to Mia's porridge and yoghurt to give a few lumpy bits.

Hi Keely I have Started Olivia a few weeks ago!

She was gagging at 1st too, and if she got a lump stuck she would throw the whole thing up

I very nearly gave up! But i didnt and im so gald i didn't as she is much better now!

I used to blend Olivia's so there where tiny lumps in it, now i mash it with a potatoe masher! I still blend her meat tho as i think thats a bit hard to swollow!

Just keep doing what you are doing he will get used to it, my healt visitor said it is normal for them to gag at 1st!

oh thanks girls that makes me feel a lot better.

Did you start lumps one meal a day or so too .... if olivia puked it up would you feed her anything else?

xxxxxxx

Yea Just one meal a day at first!

No i didn't, she wouldn't take anything else, so i just left her!

It is hard work, and worrying when you see them gagging!

When i weaned Brooke onto lumps i had lots of trouble with her as i gave up as soon as she gagged and it made it much harder to get her onto them!

I do advise to keep going with it, unless he was throwing it up all the time or he doesn't settle after a week or so!

Thanks Kelly. I am going to def try now. You have given me faith hehe

Oh and prickelyfairy good idea about grating the fruit.

xxxx
