Hi everyone!
Today i went to see my cousin and her 6 week old baby and she handed him over to me to feed him. He fell asleep with his bottle in so i took it out and he cried...Alot!! I was just staring at him willing him to stop crying! I had no idea how to handle it!!
Now i'm starting to panic and think i have no maternal instincts what so ever!! I have always felt uncomfortable with other peoples babies so maybe i'll be better with mine?
Oh god i hope so!
Has anyone felt like this or do you feel like this?
xx

before i had my first baby, i had never changed a nappy, never given a feed, never really handled a baby if i'm truthful but it just comes to you.

You will learn little tricks to settle your own baby and your baby will respond to you because you are her mammy and she will know it. I think its normal to worry about your ability as a parent but i'm sure you will be awesome  xx

Thank you! I really hope so! I felt so hopeless earlier! :(
How's lucas doing? He's a beaut. x

he is no bother at all :cloud9: he has a bit colic and i really don't think he would cry at all if it wasn't for that. He is very content 99% of the time, gets himself off to sleep and only gets up twice in the night for a feed. I am a lucky lady :) xx

Before having DD I had never done anything with a baby and in fact had sworn I would never have them! I hated babies, thought they were ugly, noisy, smelly things! I even had a massive panic during labour that I wouldn't like her, wouldn't know what to do etc etc THEN I held her! All these instincts, love, adoration rushed over me and I've never looked back! Now i'm expecting my second!! Lol x it's so different with your own baby! x x

Its always different when its someone elses baby, i held my SIL`s baby the other day and he was just over a day old and i felt so lost he's only tiny and i didnt know what to do lol. My OH has never held a baby before but he held him and could just tell he wants this one to be here now lol. Maternal instincts will come as soon as your baby is put in your arms :) x

Glad other people are like this too... When i was pregnant with my son I met up with one of my close friends for a coffee, she brought her baby with her who was probably about 8 weeks old at the time. I was probably about 38 weeks pregnant and looked pretty huge. We were just sat chatting and she asked me if I wanted to have a hold of the baby. I responded 'Ooooh no thanks, not much of a baby person' She cracked up laughing thinking it was a hilarious thing to say when just about to pop. Its true though, I still dont really know what to do with other peoples kids or babies but with your own it is just there. Cant explain it but its amazing!
