I'm being induced tomorrow at 40+2 due to pre eclampsia (only developed over the last few weeks)

Anyone been induced who can share their experiences? With my first my waters went naturally at 39+2, I had my back waters artificially broken & the hormone drip to speed up labour as my blood pressure was high and baby was distressed. So I have experience of waters being broken and the drip (ugh) but not the whole induction process.

Will OH be able to stay for the duration?

How long did yours take? I was 2cm long 1cm dilated yesterday.

I'm panicking more knowing what's coming than I would be had my waters gone naturally. :(

I've been induced both times, both by drip and both due to pre eclampsia/high bp.

The first time was similar to yours - a bit of an emergency.
This time, I went in to be induced by the pessary. I tried loads of stuff the night before (ball bouncing, nipple stimulation, etc), and when I went in, they said I was 2-3 cm dilated. Because of this, they said the pessary wouldn't work, so sent me to delivery suite, to have my waters broken. OH was allowed with me during this time and I can't imagine they would ask them to leave during the day...I think as soon as you start to progress, they whisk you to delivery suite, where they can obviously stay with you for the duration.

Unfortunately I didn't progress after my waters were broken, and bp was still high, so on the drip I went!
I was disappointed - I nearly got my natural labour...plus I had been in hospital all day and they hadn't induced me untill 8pm! She was born at 00:40, but as you are aware, the drip speeds things up a fair bit.
Hope things go smoothly for you - good luck!
Xx

No experiences of induction here but I just wanted to wish you well and a speedy easy labour x

I was induced with my first at 40+1 due to reduced movements.
I was already 2-3 cm dilated. I was given the gel at around 9.30am. Contractions started at 3pmish. By 6pm I was 3-4 cm. At 8pm I was still only around 4-5 cm and they broke my waters. At 10pm I was 5cm. By 10.30pm baby was here. I went on to have a small pph as I stopped contracting but thats all xxx

Induced at 38+5 with pre-e. Peasary went in at 12:30 and worked a lot quicker than they thought. Had regular contractions every 2 mins by 3:30. Waters went by themselves at 8ish. Unfortunately my cervix was completely unfavourable (your body sounds like it’s getting ready). I was given oxytocin drip but still took ages to dilate. I did get to 10cm but baby went into a funny position and I had an infection from prolonged labour so ended with a csec. I think I’m my cervix had been showing baby signs of getting ready then it would have gone differently. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies!

My induction was postponed. Already off to a poor start. X

I have to ring up in the morning. 8am, like I did this morning. And they still let us drive through and sit for an hour before telling us it had been postponed. :/
