I have just had such a scary time!

I was at work and my childminder called to ask me to pick Jacob up as he has a rash on his back (she rings at the drop of a hat and there's nowt there if you ask me). I left work and brought him home. I rang my sister to ask if she would watch him so i could go back to work and she said yes. So.........

I was driving to my sisters and Jake started crying really hard in the back of the car so i pulled over to give him his little toy and a dummy. I got out the car, walked round to his door and it wouldn't open...strange, so i tried the passenger door and that wouldn't open either. All the doors had locked for some unknown reason with the engine running and my baby boy trapped inside screaming his head off! My phone was also locked in the car, i have never felt so helpless in all my life!!

I managed to flag down a lovely man who let me borrow his phone but the only number i know off the top of my head is my dads house. After alot of ringing about by my dad, i managed to get hold of OH who flew out of work and brought the spare key so i could get in the car. By this time poor Jacob had cried himself to sleep while i stood looking at him crying my eyes out! I was so close to smashing a window.

I ditched the idea of going back to work as i'm so upset about the whole thing, i can't stop crying at the thought of my poor baby boy just crying his heart out, me not being able to do anything. He must have hated me at that moment.

Needles to say, i won't be getting out of my car again without taking the keys out first xx

OMG you poor thing! That must have been so frightening for you. Even knowing Jacob was ok, instincts as a Mum are pretty hard to ignore. Thank goodness your OH had the spare key.

Hope you're feeling a by less shaken now. Strong cup of sugary tea

Bloody hell you did well not to smash a window, you poor thing!! That feeling of not being able to help your baby is so awful, its enough to drive you mad. Shame you can't have a stiff drink! xx

I did nick a ciggy off OH (naughty i know) but i only managed a few draws and i felt even more sick so it didn't help much. I've calmed down now after loads of snuggles with Jacob xx

 Sounds awful :( Glad you didn't need to smash the window, though, but I know it must have been a close thing

Apparently (according to my OH) that blip keys just work off a high frequency sound.

So if it ever happens to anyone else, and you have your phone then hold your phone up to your car while someone blips your spare set against their phone and it should open.

If no spare set, then you can call you dealer/manufacturer.

On no poor you! Has your car got one of those anti theft things where you cant open doors while the engine is runnig? think its to do with being stuck in traffic and someone snatching your handbag from passenger seat. You mustve been so worried, glad it wasnt on a hot summers day, and you were both alright in the end x

One of our friends locked her baby in the car when we were going shopping. We called the AA who advised us to break a window as its a hot day. We broke the small part of the window that doesnt move when opened and reached for the lock round that way cos we thought it'd be the cheapest to replace. Turns out its the most expensive as its triangular and curved! She was told the windscreen is alwasy the cheapest to break so as long as you have a blanket/coat and get rid of all the glass you can crawl in the front easily and get access. ALthough not sure about the drive home without a windscreen!

Aaw hope u r feeling better, cuppa and a bath with some lavender x

 That must have been awful for you.
Glad your both ok. x

I feel so much better now thank you ladies. My eyes are so puffy off crying all afternoon, i never used to be a cryer, damn hormones.

Now i have to make 3 hours up at work so i am going in at 7am for the rest of the week so i'm gonna be like a zombe!! Might not hear much from me till the weekend now but i'll keep popping on to see how everyone is doing and how lisa's section has gone. Mucho love xx

On that note, the windscreen's easy to replace, but you need to make sure you make a big enough hole to get through. On any modern car, the locks will be deadlocks, which mean you can't pop them open using the internal handle by reaching through a window. So yeah, if you need to get in, smash a big enough window to get through, as you might need to climb in and get your keys!

Honest, they do! Some manufacturers have a list of keys kept under warranty, so if your car's quite new and you're the first owner, they'll be able to fire the sound down a phone to you. But honestly, I've done the "blip your key over the phone" thing before and it works, so anyone who has this snag again, ring your other half or whoever has the spare key!

and the weakest part of a window is alwas at the corners. Most people try to smash them in the centre but that's a booboo

... and something pointy is better than something big and flat.

...I am learning so much now

Toonlass, glad you're feeling better hun and hopefully the early mornings won't be too much

oh gosh poor poor you  hon, i understand, maddi got locked in my car too a little while back, i'd rushed out on our way to a swimming lesson, thrown my keys in and our bags, strapped her in and run round to get in, but the bloody key had caught locking her in, i had nothing on me, everything was in the car, luckily maddi was laughing away, so i dashed in a neighbours to ring mum to bring our spare house keys - as OH words about 45mins from home and got my spare car key thank goodness, i was bloody terrified :hugs: xx
