My 2yr old is going through a really bad stage at the moe. her sleeping pattern is just getting worse and worse and its leading me to tears.
She goes up to bed no problem , brushes her teeth and says goodnight but she is still waking up screaming....... and the screaming is almost like she is having a tantrum scream. i try to go down and see to her like put blankets on her to make sure she isnt cold and she starts kicking and says 'get off me'. If i leave her and just let her get on with it she gets louder and louder then im worried the neighbours will be woken by it. this can happen from once to three or four times. and then in the morning about 7 o clock she crys again cause she wants to get out. There is not one night or morning that goes by where she doesnt cry. i can just feel me bubbling up to boiling point. its also causing arguments between me and my partner. aaaarrrrggghhh just dont no what to do

I would get in touch with the HV maybe. It sounds a bit like night terrors.
I'm sure you've thought of everything like the temp, lightning, stories and quiet time etc

It must be so hard though

I'm sorry I can't be any help hun but just wanted to give you some of these

Does she remember what happens?

Just Tia used to have night terrors, exactly like what you are describing, but in the morning, I would ask her what was wrong last night, and she just said nothing happened. Also she would wake up bright and early in the morning as if she had had a fantastic nights sleep (which was very annoying :x ). If I went in to try and calm her she would scream at me to go away.. or say odd things like "the water's at the end of the bed!"

I didn't do anything to stop them really... I found out that they were related to the tension between me and my ex, so when I left him, she slowly got better. She also needed phenomenal amounts love, hugs, kisses and reassurance all the time and a strict bed time routine helped too.

She still has them occasionally especially when something is playing on her mind, and again, she doesn't remember them.

Has there been any major changes in her life recently? Moving home, someone moving away, someone dying (even a pet), arguments in the home etc... usually kids worry just as much as adults do, just they can't express themselves nor work through their feelings, so end up having these night terrors.

Edit: just wanted to say, it doesn't last forever I promise... it gets better... The last time we had a night terror was just after Tia's birthday in August when her dad told her he might die in Afgan  and well that was kinda traumatic for her... but other than that we only had one, and none since. :D Before that it was nearly a year ago.
