This baby will not take ebm from a bottle. He will not take it from a spoon, cup, syringe - nothing but nipple!
I was at the hospital today while my oh has chemo, my sister was babysitting.
I had to come home after two hours because he was hysterical and refusing the bottle.
The same thing happened on Saturday.
What can I do? Any ideas? xx

What bottles are you using? Have you tried different types?

Maybe try putting him on the boob, then moving mid feed to a bottle to get him used to it?

I have no idea if this would work, but have you tried nipple shields so he gets used to a different type if teat??

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

I've tried tommee tippee and avent bottles!
I've tried nipple shields twice, once when I had the nipple hole and once when I thought I had thrush (I didn't) and he had none of it!!
I have never had this problem with any of the other children!!! xx

Jack refused bottles for months. DH used to syringe milk into him and it worked. I spoke to a hv who goes to my church who is specifically trained in bf. she recommend nuk bottles with latex teats. I bought them, left my sister in charge and he took to them no bother :-) gradually got him into tommee tippee bottles.

Using Tapatalk. Can't see tickers.

Why don't you give MAM bottles a go - they are the most recommended for BF babies (which is why I had them in)

I went to boots to buy mam bottles and the lady there advised me to get the avent one so I bought that hoping it would work. I will try some different types, thanks girls xx

My SIL is a HV and she said that most mums recommend MAM to use with BFing, its why I had them to start with

Jack had a lot of trouble latching onto Avent teats when he was born ( was FF from birth) and after many failed feeds we were given a hospital feed with a horrible brown teat and he took 2oz easily!! The teats were the same shape as The Nuk teats mentioned above. He went onto Tommee Tippe's eventually but Nuk bottles teats are very very soft and flexible x

I've heard good things about nuk too x

Please excuse any typos from my fat fingers!
Tapatalk madness!

Excellent, fx he drinks from something because I'm losing my mind here :( xx

Did this happen whilst you we're away in London cos? He must of bad something?x

Yes, my mum rang me constantly with the screaming baby in the background! He'd hardly drank any of the milk I'd left and mostly cried and slept. I raced back at 8am!!! It was awful x

Awe poor boy. Not good for you either hey considering you we're meant to be having a night out, bet you were just completely stressed? Boys and boobies eh?! What can ya do! X

Cos I've just seen this after posting about the same thing. I'm trying MAM at the minute, I read to get them to suck your little finger then pop the bottle in :/ didn't work for me.
I hope your little man takes to it soon x

Just posted in the other thread. Breastflow bottles worked for us. I spent loads on buying different bottles. I've had a month of battles getting bethan to take a bottle and we've cracked it now.

I have ordered a NUK and a breast flow bottle from amazon, they'll hopefully come tomorrow.
I'm still trying with the avent and he now screams at the mere sight of it! Won't even try to put it in his mouth.
The amount of ebm I have thrown down the drain makes me want to cry :(
It takes me so long to express a feed but I will persevere xx

I would give it a rest for a few days so he gets over his fear of just looking at a bottle.

Gives you a chance to destress too x
