I want my dad to be with me during childbirth

I lost my mum when I was young and have built a strong relationship with my dad. I recently found out I was pregnant and am delighted but also very scared. By the time of the birth I will be married with my partner but it would mean everything if my dad was by my side on that special moment. I want to know how I can ask him to be there with me and also is it strange I want him to be there? Thanks.

I don't think it's strange at all! Absolutely lovely that you want him there with you. I think all you need to say to him is written in your post. I'm sure he'd be honoured

I had my dad with me for labour but he had to leave for the birth as I was only allowed 2 people in with me so already had my mum and husband. The only thing I will say is it is very hard for a dad to watch his daughter go through that level of pain, mums are different - they've been through it!

I asked my dad if he wanted to be there, he said yes to the labour but no to the actual birth xxx

I am not pregnant but would really like my dad there and my mum for birth if I'm lucky enough to conceive. Hubby works away so can't guarantee he would be there, I love my mum but my dad wouldn't stress me out so much xx

I think dad's find it hard. I nearly had a homebirth and my dad found it hard being in the same house. But there is nothing wrong with it if that's what you want xx

But like the otgers have said, he may find it hard. However that doesnt mean its impossible, it would make it a very special moment xx
