3 years I've tried for a baby with no luck.
My partner has 3 children from previous relationship.
My periods are every 26 days then 28 days then 32.
The first two days are heavy.
Sometimes I get rectal pain whilst on my period and it's impossible to have a bowel movement.
I've been told I have Ibs as I vary from constipation to runny stools.
Also lots of gas
Before my period I get a sharp pain in my hip.
I'm scared to go to the doctor incase they give me bad news..I know that makes no sense.
I'm scared incase it's endometriosis..
What tests will the doctors give me?

Dr's will offer help after 18 months of trying.
Just because your partner has children doesn't mean his sperm can't change.
I have ibs and it hasn't affected ttc. Your periods don't sound regular, do you use opks to tell you when your ovulating?

Hi scared. Doctors will usually start with some basic blood tests, normally one on days 1-3 of your cycle and one 8 days after ovulation (they commonly call this a day 21 blood test, but the actual day you will need to go is determined by your day of ovulation and it may well not be day 21 for you). They will probably also send you for an ultrasound scan to have a look and see what is going on. This will usually be both abdominal and internal and they will have a look and see if there are any problems. Usually the man is also offered a sperm test, as Peanut says just as he has had children it doesn't mean his sperm is still ok now.

Honestly it isn't too bad (and I really really hate doctors) and if they do find something then they can offer you help with what to do about it. Good luck.

No I've never used opks I normally just go by discharge.
I did go last year and was told it could be my anxiety causing a problem but I doubt it.
My period was due yesterday but hasn't arrived yet.
I get really bad pms too I've just started taking evening primrose oil.
The last smear was incredibly painful too

Hi scared, I have suspected endometriosis but i didn't get as far as getting it confirmed. Very similar symptoms to you, extremely painful periods as well and agonising pains randomly through the month too. We ttc for 3 years with no luck, we then went on to have 3 miscarriages over 3 years before getting lucky with our current baby who is cooking away nicely. If it is endo, it shouldn't affect your chances of having children too much and depending on location of the tissue, if it is causing problems they can laser it off to greatly increase your chances. Go to a different doctor to discuss your options x

I think you have signs of endometriosis. The rectal pain and difficultly with bowel movements made me think it straight alway, along with the heavy periods. I have endometriosis and had the same issues.
It is worth going to the doctors, I know you feel anxious but the longer it goes on, the more anxious you will get. They should do initial bloods for you straight away and could arrange a pelvic scan.
It is actually reassuring once you go for investigations as you feel that bit closer to it happening xx

Well this months period has just started ..only a day late this month ..29 days Since my last one.
Going to book apt for the next couple of weeks.
At least then I will feel like I'm doing something.
Can't say I would be looking forward to a internal scan ..but I want a baby so I will do anything.
I'm past the point of being broody I ache for a child,I think I would make a good mum.
You read so many stories about people who hurt there kids and don't look after them...then there's people who would love the chance and never get it.
