well my little man is 17 weeks today but i started weaning on tuesday just a few days early, the reason i have started now is im not a total beleiver of the 6month wean rule, but also because alfie is a greedy little thing downs 8oz bottles and was still waking once a night! i couldnt put him on hungry baby milk as its not available in lactose free so its been tough to get this far!!

i havent gone the baby rice route as none of my others liked it!i have gone down the route of using the plum porridge as after reading up i can start to add puree's to it so hopefuly he will get used to the new tastes with something he already like in it and his milk :) at the moment he is loving it been giving it around 5pm followed by bottle at 7 then a top up at 9 and he has actually slept through every nite since til 7 so must be doing something :)

i know this little man is gonna be the hardest to wean out all my children as he is the only one to suffer a lactose intolerence so its just a case of reading everthing :shakehead: xx

I'll be starting mine at around 4 months too, just on the farleys 4months stuff and just a bit on a morning and evening, i did this with my first as well! I'm doing it more so with Elexis though as the HV have already put her onto stage 2 formula because her weight is jumping up the centiles quickly and not in line with her length and she just seems to be on the bottle all the time lol!! 10 week old and 14lb 7oz already

xx

I weaned early with my first as he barely drank his milk and wanted him to at least get something. And he screamed the place down when we tried to eat from birth so was always interested in our food x

watch out for formula pre added to some babyfoods hun. you can use ready brek and mix his lactose free milk into it i think

im also thinkin of starting at 17 weeks

i didnt plan on starting at a specific time, just waited til Alyssa was trying to steal my lunch and was able to grab rice cakes or rusk and stick it in her mouth

yea bev its been har work finding foods with no added milk etc but the plum range is working a treat at the moment they have a four grain porridge without all the milk added in so im using it as a base to add his puree's too as he kinda doesnt like them on there own but will eat with this added to it :) cow n gate also have a few bits too labelled no lactose or milk but the rest on the ranges are pretty rubbish its just a case of reading everything but i have now found a really good weaning advice thing of nhs webpage its my lifesaver lol xx

sorry girls i kinda miissed all your replies as not been on for a few days or so but we are slowly getting there he loves his breakfast but dinners are a bit hit and miss at the moment but im sure we wil get there as its stil early days xx

and kelly you will be fine when riven starts just go with the flo and enjoy it xxx

i find dinners awkward cos she despises jars and isnt very keen on savory stuff unless its what im eating and we have tea late so its usually after her bedtime. im trying to have tea with her instead but its a bit hit and miss
