hi, i have a terrible skin infection. As i'm preg i can not have the pills to get rid of it. All they keep giving me is different creams which don't work and it has now spread onto my boobs so i have been told i may not be able to breastfeed. Though there are nipple guards (or something like that) they want to get me on the pills asap which i can not take whilst BF. Though if the creams calm it down i maybe able to wait a few months and BF for a bit!

So i need a nice cream- i've heard aloe vera is good for things like this. Any suggestions, i'm desperate!

Aloe vera is really good for excema etc. I'd recommend that you visit a homeopath, I'm sure they'll be able to help with natural lotions and potions to suit your skin.

If it is an infection cant you have anti-biotics for it? I know there are some varieties you need to avoid when you are pg but there are some that are safe. I was given amoxycillin for a chest infection when I was pg

good idea i'll try a homeopath :D

i wish anti-biotics would work! I've seen so many doctors and tried so many things but finally i have used my BUPA insurance and got a dermatologist appointment!

Read this Anne I think this will really help you.

http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/eczema.htm

I think evening primrose Oil would be a good one to go for, but in tablet form, its safe while breastfeeding and from 37 weeks in pregnancy but I would talk to the drug line on Breastfeeding network ( the ones I pmed you with.

Look for a more natural solution, the tablets the docs may give you may not be any help at all and by reading what this lady has said it can can make it worse as the tablets they give you arent good for you.

what I don't want to see happen is they give you things that you may not of needed and find out by the time its too late to breastfeed

I hope this helps.

thanks for your help tasha.

The only problem is its not eczema. I have had a small scale of this infection on my foot for years which they have treated as eczema and therfore not curing it. Since being preg it has sprend and developed which has made them realise that its an inefection of the skin. I've been told that with such infections a long treatment of pills is my only option to get rid of it for good. The creams i'm on will only mask it (though they are not so thats why i was looking for something else!!)

The homopath as suggested using a aloe vera plant to get pure aloe vera.

I'll give it a try and try and hold out as long as poss without the pills. I'm hoping it may calm naturally after the birth a bit as the homopath said its prob only got so bad because of my preg hormones :D

I have no idea if it will help you but have you tried aqueous cream? I am allergic to white board pens but as a teacher I use them everyday. My fingers would go scaly, crack and were so painful! They looked evil too with lots of red lines all over them :( I tried lots of things but in the end it was aqueous cream that helped, and now as long as I use it if my hands get dry (normally I just put it on once a day, before bed) my hands are fine! All those expensive creams I tried, and all I needed was one that costs £2 from the pharmacy bit in Boots :D

thanks i've tried aqueous cream. It calms it a little but my doctor has put me on some new cream which is working quite well :D

ooops sorry just saw the date u posted!!! sorry! lol
