I moved 100 miles away from my family and friends 3 years ago with my partner. We both used to work very long hours and didn't do much socialising outside his immediate family. Now I've finished work I'm at home looking after my LO, and my partner still works long hours I feel so lonely. I'm going to post natal groups/infant swimming lessons, not just for LO but in the hope of finding some friends.

I'm quite shy  , and struggle with small talk. :(

Any suggestions to help me gain some kind of social life?

hiya hun,

i would recommend netmums. You can pop a post on there to meet people in your area. Ive met some lovely ladies through it. You can also meet up with them to go to a baby group together.. easier than going alone.

it can be hard but having a baby is a great way to meet people. i'm not shy though so can appreciate it must be difficult.

good luck,

claire x

I'm in the same boat....moved here 5 years ago, never been to school, college, work etc here. Don't know anyone. I go to loads of groups and lessons with LO to try and meet others but like you I'm shy and find it hard to start a conversation etc, especially in a group. If we lived closer we could have met up!! I defo have space for a best mate around here!

Are you intesrested in carrying your LO in a good carrier? Maybe go along to a sling meet (www.slingmeet.co.uk) as you'll meet lots of lovely people.
