I’m bleeding

I’m really worried 😟 I’m 13 weeks pregnant and I’m bleeding 😥 it started about half an hour ago and it’s like the first day of a period. I have had cramps on and off all through the pregnancy which I know is normal, but I’m terrified of this bleeding. I’ve rang my local pregnancy unit and they said either go to A&E if the cramps are severe, or wait till morning and ring the GP who will refer me to them. Our GP surgery is notorious for being engaged for the first 2 hours of opening, then they never have an appointment after that! I’m so stressed and scared 😥😥

Has anyone ever had this?

I haven't personally but I know some women do just bleed during pregnancy and have perfectly fine and healthy babies. I would go to A&E though just in case. Especially if you struggle to get through to your GP. Keep us updated please. x

Sorry you are going through such stress. Bleeding is never what you want to see. Honestly it can go either way but there are plenty of women who have bleeding and go on to have a healthy baby.

A&E can't do much for you either wayb so you don't need to go but likely give you a scan so at least you would get answers. Waiting to know what is going on is the worst. When I had spotting I couldn't face spending hrs at A&E or back and forth to doctors so managed to book a private scan the next day.

I had my scan 5 days ago and everything was fine then. I’m just so scared ��

I know this is a very scary time and no matter how many times you are told not to panic that is what you are going to do.

But try not to panic or stress too much as at the moment you don't know what's happening and although you're bound to think of the worse case, like others have pointed out lots of people have bleeding throughout their pregnancies and don't have any problems. I suggest going to A&E or seeing if you can book a private scan for tomorrow as although there isn't much they can do for you, at least if you get a scan you will know what is going on and it may put your mind at rest.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you that this is just a one off bleed and everything is okay with your little one. xx

Sorry for the late update.
I rang EPU the next morning and they transferred my call to triage as they only see ladies up to 12 weeks. Triage wouldn’t see me as I’m not 16 weeks yet �� so they suggested my GP. My GP receptionist said all doctors were fully booked but a doctor would call me back. I got in with the doctor and even she was frustrated with the system. She spent nearly 20 minutes on the phone to the hospital trying to get me seen. She managed to get gynaecology to see me. They listened to the heartbeat, said I was fine and to go home, but call back if it was still continuing the next day. The next day it was a bit worse so rand gynae only to be told to go back to my GP ��

I’d had enough by then and booked in for a private scan. Long story short, everything is fine! And it was nice to see baby again. I’m just frustrated that I’m my area there are so many NHS hoops to jump through and nothing in place for women between 12 and 16 weeks!

What a horrible experience, but I’m glad everything is ok. It is ridiculous how they pass us from pillar to post, MW’s are forever telling us to watch our stress levels etc but then the system frustrates us all so much causing us to become stressed. I finally got a consultant review last week only to be told that because he’s a general consultant he couldn’t decide whether or not to put me back with MW led care or not so now he’s written to the consultant I initially saw with my condition, but said it’s doubtful he’ll even hear back from him before my 20 week appointment in 3 weeks! It’s ridiculous as they’re in the same hospital! I have to count to 10 then fake smile so I do t lose it sometimes lol
