i went to the health visitor yesturday, and she sed that i should put B onto the second stage food and he can start having finger foods.

the things i wanted to know is:
i brought B some second stage food yesturday (heinz mums own) and it was more lumpy than i expected, i was just wondering if there was a better type to use with not so many lumps!!

the second thing is wot is a good type of 'finger' food that i could give him the HV suggested banana but its to slippery for him lol

Thanks for ur help

Finger Food: Cucumber, Soft Boiled or steamed Carrot, Toast, Banana.

Not really sure at what age you can give toast and cucumber but I'm sure the Carrot would be fine for B. Any Veg that has been softened will probably be good

hi

this may help i went to a weaning class today even thou Aleena is still little, but there was alot of info.

They like giving the LO, lumpy food so that they can adapt to chewing also this movement also helps with LO speech movement.
Try giving the food to your LO, at 1st he wont like it, but as time goes by he will adapt to it.

Not sure if this helps, but see if their is any weaning classes in your area

Sarah what about just mashing the food up a little bit more with a fork?
Or boil some veggies up and mash them a little bit.

Finger foods: carrot sticks, brocolli, toast or toasted raisin bread, chicken breast, baby breadsticks, apple, slices of cheese etc.

ewan loves heinz bicotti and bread, he can suck then and break bits off. i havemn't tried him with anything else yet.

Hi Sarah

How exciting i used to love that stage. I used to give my girls grated cheese, marg and marmite on bread and then cut it into tiny squares, little orange segments (they like sucking the juice out). With the jars i used to just mash it up a little bit more at first, they soon get used to it :D

thanks guys i gave him a cow n gate biscuit tonite he loved it lol,
and i mushed down his food a bit n he liked that to lol

I liked hipp organic food at the second stage and for finger foods I used rice cakes (c&g), rusks, banana, raisins, raspeberies (halved, but its maybe not a good season for them), bananas ans strawberies.

They think they are so clever when they can do it themselves.

he does we gave it to him as a deesert while we were eating and he had the biggest smile ever on his face
