I give up, i really want to carry on bf but feel i may have to give it up soon :( ive been block feeding ( one boobie in the day, the other at night) because i produce to much foremilk, i would take off 3oz of foremilk off each boobie at am and pm this was causing arthur low weight gain, only 5oz in two weeks he became a very whingy baby always crying and would only settle feeding, it was also causing constipation :( 2 poos in 6days. So i went back to alternate boobs for feeds for a couple of days, this helped arthur to poo :) however because i produce to much foremilk its caused alot of griping, hes been farting like mad and wanted to feed alot, so im now bk to square one and need help xx

I can't see tickers if there is one. How old is little one?

I always thought you only had to be worried about constipation if it got to over a week, 10 days even.

How much is wanting to feed a lot?

Can you give up a schedule of a typical day?

Hes 11weeks, he feeds

7.30am, 11.30am, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm, 9.30pm, 2am, 5am, 7.30am

However every 2hrs past 4 days xx

Sounds like a normal feeding time for me with a baby that age. I produced allot of fore milk you could just try and keep him on and use a hot flannel on your boob that he is drinking from it will help the let down reflex :) then always offer the second boob. My LO didn't put on a huge amount of weight to start with but your son isn't loosing weight he is still gaining weight so your still doing something right :) xxx

Looks pretty normal to me too based on my limited experience.

Maybe try somewhere in the middle of feeding from same breast for two feeds. Then switching?

How long does he feed for in a normal session?

I meant, how long does he feed for in comparison when he's feeding every 2 hours vs when you block fed?

Also could it be coincidence and he's having a growth spurt and therefore feeding more to increase supply?

He feeds for about ten minutes. I thinks hes having a leap as hes become very clingy like last time xx

Try keeping him on for 15-20 mins - some babies are fast feeders but he may be not getting enough as let down relex may not have kicked in at that time. Try the warm cloth trick only thing that worked for me x

They have a growth spurt at twelve weeks so it could be slightly early? C always had his growth spurts a few days earlier than the books say.

In terms of times between feeds, at eleven weeks two hours if perfectly normal. C only started going slightly longer now at six and a half months now he is on solids too.

Have you tried gripe water or infacol? Xx

Oh and pumping won't help calm your over supply down hun m, in fact it will make it worse. If you hand express it is far gentler and will help regulate your supply rather than prompting more milk production x

Do you mind me asking how you know if you have a milk imbalance? :)

It's because the midwives/health visitors see them only gaining a little bit (even though the baby might be 100% happy) they tell you you aren't feeding them properly and too much fore milk (which is more like water) and not enough hind (which is more thick and fatty) as they have to follow a book. I hath is with my daughter and that's what they told me xx

I've had the same issues! I just font go to get C weighed anymore, as long as he is not unwell and has plenty of wet and dirty nappies I am happy. Xx

That's what I did with my kids in the end. They are now 5yrs, 4yrs and 2 1/2 yrs and their weight is fine! Infact on their 2yr check I was told they were All under weight but under height (perfect weight for their height) but not enough for their age?! an one hv told me to feed my child up as it might encourage them to grow taller?! Lol!!!!!! I Told her to get off! Said what do you want me to do put them on a stretcher! Now all 3 are the same thy know its my genes! But it can't help to get all this "advice" when you only have 1 or 2! Hv annoy me with their books lol!!!!! Luckily the hv I have at the moment is lovely xxx

I stopped weighing.my son for the opposite reason - they were telling me he is too.fat. BUT....wait for it....refused measuring his length

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

Tell me about it! Hubby and I are of Sri Lankan origin consequently we are not huge or particularly tall. Coupled with the fact that C is EBFd means that the centile lines just don't stack up! Xx

also hub if you look in the red book the advice is to weigh once a month. X

I know i have an imbalance as his nappies was constantly green, and if i expressed 2/3oz off tiny bit would only be hind milk, and he sufferd bad trapped wind/gripes. Bf nurse said its defo to much foremilk, as i showed her what i expressed. I just need to get a balance for him xx
