How soon after birth did you become 'intimate' again?

 A bit of an embarrasing question...

How soon after birth did you have sex for the first time? Was it painful, or did it feel different? How soon did it take for you to feel normal during sex?

Tbh, I haven't really thought about the whole thing, but I would like to do it for my OH, particularly because he has been such a great father and partner since LO was born (and before).

My birthing experience was very straight forward, no tears or anything. I am still bleeding, but only slightly. Other than that I am pretty much back to normal. I go for walks pretty much every day and feel pretty fit (counting days to be able to start exercising, particularly swimming, properly again).

On a separate note does anyone know how long after rubella injection one needs to wait before trying for a second baby? Every midwife and doctor seems to have a different opinion. It is not that we'd like to have a child straight away, but we wouldn't mind if I fell pregnant after our DD is six months. Ideally, I would have preferred not to use contraception at all as I am breastfeeding and that should work as a contraceptive (and if not we wouldn't mind)...

Don't be embarrased hunny! I can't help with the Rubella question but regarding the other question...

Jacob was 9 weeks old when hubby and I first had sex after he was born. I had a small tear and ended up being cut and it was so painful! It took quite a while to heal because my stitches desolved too early so the healing prosess was longer

I'm glad I waited so long tbh because when we finally did it... it was great! I was so suprised, I had no pain, it didn't feel any different than before and I enjoyed it!

If you feel ready just go for it! :D

3 weeks after and i couldnt feel anything much :? like midna said it felt slack and i dont think it was much good for him either  the second time was a little better and i think we only managed it one other time since...the baby started crying and he lost the mood , so to speak lol

its a bit hard to find the right time when you both feel like it AND the baby is asleep.

about 3 weeks after - i had a 2nd degree tear and still have a section of it that hasn't quite healed. i actually feel too tight now and it hurts :( that might just be down to under-use though -

11 days after, and it felt fine, if anying i felt tighter! We went slow, and it didnt hurt.

Haven't let my hubby anywhere near that area, and have no intention to for a long time yet.

I just don't feel up to it and I'm not in the slightest bit interested. x

3 weeks and it wasnt too bad but it still can hurt inbetween me 2 wholes

5 weeks, and I too still have a bit of my 2nd degree tear that still hurts, only when I'm on top or have a specculum. Where I had the episiotomy still feels tender, but that may be my imagination.

We were intimate a couple of months after and it was fine, and I'd just say its more important you want to, than wanting to do it for your partner    Be prepared to stop if you need to , and maybe some lubricant if you feel tense at all, just take things slowly and have a lovely time :)

11 days...

my OH said it didn't feel different for him; except for the fact he had a condom on

I though it felt different though- it wasn't as sensitive as before (I didn't orgasm... )

I had a small labia tear but it didn't hurt- just felt a bit awkward because it wasn't just like having sex... it was a planned event around Evie's sleep pattern!

I've been fancying a good sh@g since about 1 week after! Not done anything about it yet as I've still got a busted muff! I only had a 1st degree tear with no stiches, but it still feels a bit tender down there.

OH won't come near me anyway! I think he's still grossed out by the whole plug thing, and the gunk from labour  I dont think the milky boobs are doing anything for him either, I'm still leaking everywhere!

We waited 2 weeks. It was a little uncomfortable I hadn't torn or anything in labour so it wasn't so bad. it was better the next times we did it

Thanks for your responses

I think I am ready to give it a go. Even though I don't really fancy sex itself I do miss yhe intimacy and don't want to wait for too long. I won't be having too high expectations though...
