How many oz's

I was just wondering how many oz's a day your LO's take?

For the past week now Phoebe has been taking 40oz a day!!

This seems like a lot to me, she has 6 x 6oz bottles during the day and she normally has 4oz of her bottle before bed!

I heard somewhere too that babies should be weaned when they start taking 40+oz a day, but I still don't know if she's ready for it!

I've read that too but I think it's one of those old wives theories and I think unless she seems to be constantly wanting more and more frequently then I wouldn't consider weaning and would just go with what she's wanting. Looking into it I don't plan to wean Sophie until she's atleast 5 months if I can help it and would even consider changing her to a hungry baby milk if need be.

It could just be a growth spurt at the minute? X

Yeah I thought growth spurt but she's been taking this much for a week now. I think your right though I'm going to just let her go with it atm I really dont think she's ready for weaning yet, not that OH agrees x

Until she's taking 9oz pet bottle she's fine then you can give hungry baby milk to make get wait longer for weaning tell your oh she's fine and go with the flow xx

The most Jack has even drunk in one go is 6oz!! He is offered 15oz a day (3 x 5oz's) but never drinks more than 3-4oz per bottle so 12oz in total at a push. I remember he only took 2oz every 90mins until he was around 2.5 months!! Looking back I don't know how we did it! lol.

She sounds like she's doing really well hun. If she's not crying inbetween feeds i'd say she's fine. Wean her when you think she's ready x

Leandros on 7/8 oz once He downed 10oz in one sitting Had to go make him extra. Now though cos we've changed the teats Hell have 8 oz because of the flow. He has about 4/5 bottles but the past week he's been I'll abd grumpy so its varying everyday xxx

Sophie's easily finished off 2 6oz bottles this morning after only managing to drink 4oz for weeks! I'm
going to start recording how much shes taking again xx

Caleb is currently having 9oz 6/7 times a day, so 63/72oz. The bloody HVs keep moaning on at me to wait until he's 6 months to wean him when it's obvious he wants food, so I've been giving it to him anyway. They keep saying that the 40oz thing doesn't matter blah blah blah, I really hate my HVs, I only take LO to be weighed out of curiosity then try and run away but they always grab me for a "chat" aka them sitting me down to condescend me!!! Telling me to give him hungry milk when I've already told them it makes him really badly constipated!

I'm on holiday at the moment but when I get home he's going on solids properly, he loves it and he'll only be 10 days shy of 6 months old then!

I don't blame you! I think we know ourselves when the time is right not every baby is textbook and is ready to be weaned bang on 6months! Hope the weaning goes well xx

my LO is currently taking 6oz but she has dropped to 5 feeds. i have also put my LO on sma extra hungry milk as the first infant milk was not filling her. she is a diffrent baby since i put her on the hurgy baby milk she is alot more content .

Grace is on 8oz every 3 hours but the last couple of days she's only been taking half a bottle sometimes, we're doing tw weaning at the minute so that's probably helping as she just wasn't satisfied after a bottle but wouldn't take 9oz

Will is doing 5 or 6oz over 6 bottles in a day. Around about 32/34 oz in a day xx

Well I've recorded what she's been having daily total amount and it's still actually only 27oz but she's just been dropping a feed or two and instead taking more at every feed.

Angel has 4 or 5 8oz bottles a day. I had an annoying HV too, I was almost certain that Angel was ready to be weaned, showing all the typical signs for ages and she kept making excuses for them... I was like what is the point is saying "oh they're ready to be weaned only when they do this and this" if you're gonna make excuses for them if they're under 6 months? I know the guidelines are there for a reason but Angel has a tiny bowl of baby porridge (suitable for 4m+) every morning and she loves it! I saw a different HV last week and she didn't lecture me etc she just said to go by Angel and she said she's doing extremely well. She just told me to only give her breakfast and not increase the meals till 5/6 months if poss. xx.

Hungry Baby milk just makes Phoebe constipated. Plus I've got her on comfort milk cos she had awful colic x
