Hi

This is my first post in new mummies bit!! hehe

The reason for the question is Ellis is only taking around an ounce so midwife told me to up his feeds to 2 hrs .... he is also not waking for his feeds in the day .... and only stirring every few hrs in the night, then i wake him up.

Not sure hun with breast feeding, i know jack took 2oz of bottle and that was more than enough, the midwife told me their stomach is only meant to hold 30-40 ml's at first.

Didn't help much .... sorry!!

no I am bottle feeding now ... like you hayley I breastfed for a few days and didnt like it and it hurt to much ... I was dreading the next feed.

So Ellis is formular now too ... so he is only taking 1 ounce on the bottle xxxxx

Hiya Keely

Welcome to the new mummies section!

I think he just needs a few days to settle down. You will find for the first week or so he will seem to sleep all the time. After a while they seem to perk up though. I'm sure he'll feed when he's hungry so don't worry

Congrats again!

some times painfelif can set them back, i was told pethiden can?

Dior used to have nearly one ounce, but she was prem. Harley was having 50mls in hospital every 3hrs

thanks for your replies girls...

urchin your right he sleep ALL the time!! hehe

i feel a bit happier today as last night he woke himself for feeds every 3 hrs ... then today he has taken 2 ounces every 2 hrs and even been crying for some of them feeds earlier!!

fingers crossed i will just keep uping the bottle and spreading the time out xxxxx

Keely,

Yeah Jake was the same in the first 2 weeks. They do increase usually in the 3rd week......we had some rough days when he was becoming hungrier and although he's only 4 weeks today, we've already got him on Step 2 formula (specifically for hungrier babies).

Health visitors were telling me to give him water but he was having non of it.

Best advice, go with your gut instinct. Even though you don't think it - you will know what's best for your bubba.

Love Sass
