How Many 'Older' Mums Do We Have On Here?

I am 35-36 next friday.
i am a "do it all again mum"
my others are...18, 16 and 12. Anyone else have older kids and decided to start again? i was sterilised after my 12 year old but then oh was desperate for another (we have just the one between us) so we had a go, things didnt go as planned (long story!!) but 3 years later, he is here! and we are proud as punch!

Its silly really - when you think about it.

Child bearing age is from the start of puberty till the menopause when mother nature stops reproduction.

so really there is no such thing as ''an older mum''

there is of course the ''ideal age for child bearing''

but who decides all that?

 and there's also Mary70 (the only other I can think of tho I'm sure there's more.) Step children 33, 25 and 24, my son 13 and here we are starting all over

Interesting read budge.

The times I hear about fertility declining after the age of 35, yet just recently I have heard of and seen quite a few older women pregnant. Maybe some have had IVF, or maybe not. I myself haven't had to which I am really grateful for.

I'm wondering if, as people are gradually living longer and due to evolution, women may find it easier to conceive in their late thirties, early forties.

possibly. but i doubt it. If thats the case then puberty would start earlier. and i don't think it is is it?

yes puberty is starting earlier - there's been a gradual move towards earlier puberty and starting periods since WW2 in this country - connected - they think - to increased nutrition and health care for young girls.

It was like 15-17 before now it's something like 12.

We did it in school a few years back for PSE

im glad its not just us, we have a few between us too, i have two boys from a previous (18 and 16) DP has 3 from his previous (23,18,17) and we have 2 together (12 and baby) and we are going to go for more, im not sure about the IVF route again i think we are decided to give it a go on our own for a few months see how things go but if we need to go again after that then we will, we just need to start saving again.
by the way...good thread this! interesting reading.

My mum is like that she had me(21) my sister(20) and brother (17) and when i was 13 she had my younger sister(9) and thenwhen i was nearly 19 she had my brother. Sadly though he passed away when he was 8 months old

37 here :cheer: I love being "older", I am more settled, no more money worries etc.

I am starting over too, oldest dd is 20 and a mother herself, then I have a 19 dd also a mother, my son is 14, and my youngest is 6. I also have a stepson 8.

I guess being older has it's advantages like watching all those cheesy 80's films first time round...BTW Dirty Dancing tonight
