how long did stitches hurt for??

its been 2 week today since leah was born and for the first 10 days or so they weren't painful at all.
but since then its been agony when ive been walking around for a while or been stood up.
it feels so raw and like im sat on razor blades.
ive been having salt baths everyday which gives instant relief but its constantly raw and sore when im stood up.

i had antbiotics for a week after the birth so i dont think i have an infection.
when midwife checked me on tuesday she said my stitches looked clean and healing well but should they be so sore now??

mine werent, but i only had two. my friend (the one who beat u in the birth race!) is still sore but she had countless stitches coz shes the size of a 9-year-old girl and her baby boy was a 9-pounder (ouch!)
i guess it depends how many u had. hope they better soon

Mine are still a bit sore...

they have all dissolved on the outside but I think there are still some on the inside. Its tender in that area especially when I wipe (and I haven't helped matters by getting a bit too frisky! )

If you're worried mention it to your HV (she's coming next week isn't she?)

i had a tear and an episiotomy with my first and it did take about 3/4 weeks for the sorenesss to completely go but they did gradually ease off towards the end they never got worse, mention to gp or mw hun if ya worried.

I had 7 stitches on the outside and 6 on the inside, or could be vice versa, who knows (I ain't gonna look).

Anyhow, my stitches itch like hell for a good 8 weeks. When I sat down, I had to either sit on my side or on a soft cushion, walking got achy or painful if I did too much, too.

You wait till you try having sex, OOOOOHHHHHHH it stings the first time!

hey hun, if i am honest mine didnt feel normal for some time afterwards...

My stitches did bust open but if MW has said they look ok, i am not sure. Have they felt worse since she checked? Mayb ring and ask for another visit or go to GP.

Mine were still sore 2/3 months on but are completely fine now xxx

Mine are still quite tender sometimes and it just doesnt feel 'right' down there, planning to get them checked to make sure they've healed ok and no infection etc. I asked HV and she said 6weeks to fully heal and longer for internal ones....

It sounds like a infection to me Kimbo, I jhad same symtoms and was in agony and was diagnosed with a infection.
I know they take a while to heal, and can feel strange for a while. I have no advice as such maybe just carry on with yoursalt baths and maybe add some lavender as well.

Buy some sea salt or normal salt, run a hot bath and soak yourself. I did this every day, it helps to heal and keep infections away.

i had loooooooooads of stitches inside and out with millie, they didnt dissolve properly so i had to have them pulled out , but ryan i didnt have any stitches even tho he was 3lb bigger than millie

I don't know how many stitches I had but I had a 2nd degree tear and it took an hour to stitch me up.

I never had any pain, tenderness or even itching at all. If it wasn't for my pelvis pain, I would have been back to normal. Sorry that doesn't help. xxx

get a second opinion. I was convinced there was something wrong with mine. I made the midwife who came to discharge me, look at them and she said they were fine.

I was then at my auntie's less than 24hrs later (my auntie is a midwife) and she said, 'you're walking funny, are you ok?'. She had a look at my stitches and told m to go straight to the emergency doctor becasue they were really infected!

I was on antibiotics for over a week and my episiotomy gaped as a result and now will never go back together properly.

Don't want to scare you, but don't just take their word for it if you know something is wrong.
