How is everyone going with names?

weve got elijah or rowan for a boy and elaina kathrine for our girl name xx

One thing that I am struggling with is the surname. We have no plans to get married currently, but you never know whats in the future. As both our surnames are fairly rare I think it would be nice to do a double barrel surname, both for marriage and for baby.

OH hasnt/wont really give an opinion on it. As we arent married I think it would be nice to acknowledge that he has a link to baby, but I dont want to lose my own link to it. I just wish I knew what OH really thinks about it.

Hubby and I are from Sri Lanka and both have Singhalese names. We both want Singhalese names for our baby but cannot agree on one yet!:wall2:

We are team yellow so we need to come up with a boys name and a girls name.

We are sorted for middle names though :) xx

We chatted about names fairly early on but after deciding to find out what team we were on we left it. However we had pretty much decided on the girls name. We are team blue so took the short list of boys names and had pretty much decided on Jack Dylan. However from day 1 my OH has called the baby Maximus. He joked it was a strong gladiator name just like his boy. It kind of caught on and everyone started calling the bump Maximus. Now I wouldn't name my child this but now we can only see the baby as Max so I think he'll be Max Dylan. I'm still waiting to see what he looks like though xxx

We aren't married yet either but assume we will in the future, so are just giving the baby OH's surname. I can understand you wanting to double barrell especially with unusual surnames. Doesn't bother me though and when we get married we won't double barrell. Will be nice when we all have the same surname though!

We're in the same situation, We plan to get married eventually so LO is having OHs surname. I work in a school and realizing my child would have to learn to write a double surname at the age of 5 seemed a bit unfair. So for their sake just giving them the one.

It's really hard to find a name we both like. We did have one but i'm not so sure now!! It's difficult because I like strong, traditional names but my oh likes more modern names.

I found choosing my dd's name so much easier!!

We have a short list of 4: Emilia, Imogen, Eloise and Liliana

I find girls names easier than boys and even though I am team Yellow I have a sneaking suspicion we're having a boy.

We just get silly everytime we try with boys names and get the giggles. Must try harder!!

This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do!!
I like 2 boys names but have a definite favourite, hubby prefers the other name.
As for girls names, can't find any! If LO is a girl (which I don't think it is) we're gonna struggle to name her lol x

See I was like this, had quite a few boys names but no girls names. Think I knew that I wouldn't need a girls name this time :D xx

We have only picked both a boy and a girl's name cos I don't want to jinx it :p I do think we're having a boy, but bought a gorgeous wee dress yesterday in the sale cos I couldn't resist! For £3 who would? :p

WRT surnames ladies, when I got married, I unofficially (not by deed poll) kept my maiden name as my middle name. I may get this changed by deed poll in the near future. But anyway, all of our kids will have my maiden name as their second middle name. Which means we will all have the same surname, but my family name will still be on their birth certificates in some way. I wanted to do this cos it's unlikely my brother will have kids and I don't want our name to be erased from the family!

We are struggling with OH's surname. Mann. It's not terrible, but there are some amusing combos around...

I am married to him, but kept my surname because I'm Chinese and wanted to keep that part of me, I kept it for professional reasons, and I do NOT want to be known as Mrs Mann. Yuck.

We are quite settled on a boy's name, but have only a few maybes for girls. Some of the names we've liked simply don't go with the surname. I wonder if they should have my surname instead? hehe...
