How do you wait?

We are getting married in summer and have always assumed we would try for a baby after, but have finally properly discussed it and have said that we will start to try either just after or just before the wedding.

However, since deciding this I am driving myself mental.

My OH likes looking at baby stuff when we go shopping and I also enjoy it, but I'm finding myself looking at maternity clothes and baby clothes and thinking about it constantly.

I know once we start trying it could take a while, so I want to try and calm myself down now as I'll be going absolutely crazy if I keep this up.

I just wondered how you other ladies cope while waiting to start trying? I know I'm being silly and should just focus on my wedding for now, but I just can't wait to be pregnant again

I think its pretty normal to look at clothes. I have done since i had my 1st but waiting is easy for me
Me and my partner havent been together that long only 15 months so we live apart etc. As of january things are going to change. Im quite happy enjoying my 2.5 yr old

It's really hard! I like to know how many days I have to wait to try, and I like to plan things so I have something to look forward to in between. 140 days to wait now, but we have things on in March & April so I'm really excited about them too! This will be our third baby and I am excited about this one as I was the first time round.

I know once we start trying I'll be occupied and I'll be doing something about it so I'll be fine then!

Well we have a lot on in the run up to Summer, so hopefully I will be kept occupied. Wedding invites are going out in Feb so focusing on getting them all sorted and all the extra bits for the wedding.

Weddings are a really good way of filling in your time! Lol!

I tend to wait by planning things. Both baby/pregnancy related, plus home, children, parties etc. I'm a planner by nature so it settles my mind and makes the wait not seem so bad! LOL

I'm quite similar to be fair.

I'll be okay, I'm very busy at the moment with the wedding planning and I'm also working full time in a school and doing an open university course. It's more when we're in the throes of passion at the moment, we both get to the point when we're almost like... why not.

The time will fly by for when we can start trying though :) I keep telling myself that anyway.

I know I'm not healthy enough at the moment, but I'm finishing off all my alcohol tonight, and other than a few bits in for the kids, from tomorrow, my life is going to change! My aim is to lose 3 stone by end of May, and then continue to lose until pg or maintain until baby is born. I've done it twice before so I know I can do it again. We have no form of contraception either, (I think I read somewhere else you had been on injection, then pill, now nothing) so sometimes I'm counting fingers to see where in my cycle I am! Ha ha!

Yes that's right, I feel so much better not being on contraception actually, it's shocking how it affects you. I did think about having the implant last year, as I thought it could be taken out when we decided to start trying, but my fiancé really didn't like the idea of me having it after seeing how I had reacted to the pill (and also I not only came off the injection as we were considering trying in the future but also for health reasons)

That's something I can always think about, I haven't started taking folic acid yet-so we need to be sensible. I will start in May possibly, as that will be three months before we start trying. I will also take vitamin D as I have issues with that (one of the reasons I had to come off the injection) and look into anything else I should be taking.

Good luck with the weight loss, how are you planning on doing it? Just healthy eating or following a diet?

I want to lose a stone... possibly a stone and a half by May

Cutting out most of the unhealthy snacks, and exercising! I hate exercise, and I'm really unfit, but I've just tonight ordered the Davina McCall 7 minute workouts. I figured if I do 1 per day, and then up it to 2 at a time, then 3 at a time etc. It's a different work out each day and also I've read that there's a test type workout so you can see how much you have improved. I think that will help me. I'm also going to swim twice per week and just eat better. I've had 8 takeaways in my 2 weeks off work over Xmas! I'm appalled at how bad I've became! My target is 5 stone in total, with the possibility of another 1 depending on how I feel at the end.

Sounds like you have a good plan, good luck.

Your plan for exercise sounds good as well, it's no good jumping in and doing loads straight away as you either end up hurting yourself or get fed up and not enjoy it. So building it up like that should be good, I also like the idea of the test as when your feeling a bit demotivated you can do the test and see how well you've done so far.

I've been the same while we've had two weeks off work.... in fact way before the two weeks started, too many take-aways and any excuse to pig out on crisps or chocolate. I started my diet again on Saturday and it's been going well.... for the first time in at least 6 months.... probably well over a year I went out for lunch and chose sensibly.
