I'm laid in bed wide awake at 3:45am with horrid period cramps hugging a hot water bottle and just taken 2 paracetamol, how do you control your pain? She has me bent over in pain every month for the first 2 days and when I change myself the amount of blood and clots it's no wonder I'm in pain but it does ease after 2 full days of it I just struggle at the beginning, do you have any tips or should I just suck it up and take it? I'm such a mardy person this time of month too :-( xx

My periods used to be horrific and painful. I don't know if it was age but looking back on it I think I had a hormonal imbalance because I was very thin...not technically unhealthy thin but probably enough to have too much progesterone which makes the womb lining very thick and periods heavy. Don't know if that's an issue for you. Weight can really affect your menstrual cycle.

Maybe things that help blood flow would be good like vitamin C rich foods? Also I'd keep your toxin level down and see if that helps - artificial sweeteners, articificial supplements, caffeine, alcohol, processed food...might help? Yoga might be helpful too. Things like forward bends if you can manage them or swimming.

Hope you feel better soon! x

This sounds like hocus pocus but I had something called Mayan abdominal massage and my next period was almost no pain and much lighter (I didn't have one the following month as fell pg- it's supposed to help with fertility too). They give you massage moves to do at home to continue it which deffo helped. Have a google and see if there's anyone in your area that does it, they're quite few and far between I find!

I find I struggle at the start of my period. Not every month so it's a bit unpredictable. I find the hot water bottle and the paracetamol is usually my go-to!! I've started doing yoga which I think does help. Also started doing acupuncture. My last period was definitely different in terms of flow. Pain was still bad but hopefully it will improve with a few more sessions.

I've never heard of that candymycandy, will have to look into that, I'm not very good with pain as it is but I really struggle with period pains they make me cry usually first 2 days don't envy myself when I fall pregnant and go through labour!
I might try yoga moomin girl as I've been told that may help with my back too as I suffer with sciatica too xx

I have endometriosis and period pain can be horrific for me. I found Nurofen plus was the only thing to help the pain and got something from boots called cyclo-f (I think) to reduce bleeding.
One bonus is I coped so well in labour, they were shocked and they asked if I have bad periods pains, they said some women who have bad periods cope so well in labour as used to pain and have high pain threshold xx

My mum had that and had to have a hysterectomy at 29 so I was worried with mine incase I had it but they said I didn't, I can't have nurofen im illergic to them- as you can see I like to be awkward, but at moment paracetamol aren't helping and I'm not allowed to have a hot water bottle at work so this 12 hour shift is really dragging xx

So I've as good as finished my period, still got cramps But when took tampon out it was as white as what it was when it went in, very strange - 1 full day of major cramps and bleeding then absolutely nothing and I've been on my feet all night on my night shift, don't know why I have cramps but stopped bleeding xx
