How did they get it wrong?

I don't generally have a problem with my midwives, but this is a bit worrying.

2 weeks in a row two different midwives measured my bump and recorded my bump and the baby as being big. Very big. As in well above the 'large' line of the growth chart.

They tested me for GD and when that came up clear, still weren't happy and sent me to the hospital.

2 consultant appoaintments, 1 scan, and more than 2 hours later I'm told that my baby is not big at all. Infact, it's perfectly on track.

I appriciate that they wanted to make sure I was fine, and I have no problem with that, I just want to know how they both got the measurements so far out. I thought maybe it was because I had gained fat as well and pregnancy bump, but I've been told since that that shouldn't matter...

Anyone got any ideas? This happened to anyone else?

Hi there hun,

It can all be very confusing can't it! I saw midwife yesterday and she told me that Daniels height was spot on, that everything seems to be normal.
I have been diagnosed with GD, but I think because it has been caught in time, the fact that he is a few pounds heavier doesn't really matter, hopefully I have a few weeks for him to even out

Perhaps that's what happened to you, he's kind of grown into himself? Oh dear, I'm not making much sense am I, just had a bath and the relaxing bubble bath has gone to my head! :D

LOL! I feel like that all the time!

I guess it could have something to do with the strange positions Baby gets itself into - when we had the scan it was sucking on it's foot.... That must be a confusing shape to measure.

Awww a foot sucker, ours is a hand sucker, they look so cute when they do things like this on the scan don't they :D

It was really sweet!

And explains why when I do get big kicks WHY they are so big. It's a long way for a small person to move a leg, especially when you're upsidedown AND smooshed up in someone belly.

Can't remember the last time I could get my foot that high
