hey every one,

i was just wondering does any one know how i can go about getting a council house faster than i would normally, i am obviously pregnant and really need a house, i am currently at home but my parents house can not physically fit another person in, however small they may be, i have already told the council this but i have had no luck, so far

any advice at all is greatly appreciated!!!
:D

Hi hun,

To get to the top of the list for our housing association home (which we move into in a couple weeks!) we had to literally prove we were homeless. We got evicted from our private rent as our landlady wanted to sell the house when I was pregnant and we had to move back to my parents. My mum had to write countless letters saying she was going to throw us out any day and that we didnt get on etc, etc which were white lies but then its a sad fact that when it comes to council properties unless you ham up the truth you wont get anywhere!!!!!!

We then applied for homelessness and were accepted and put straight to the top of the list, but its still taken from August of last year to get offered a place! It was such a long, hard slog, and times I felt like saying sod it going out and getting another private rent but im glad we peserved cos we have been offered the nicest place going now!!

I suggest you get your mum/dad to write a letter to the council saying they are going to throw you out as of a certain date and that its overcrowded. Like I said before, they will have to lie to get anywhere unless you want to be waiting years!!

Best of luck I know how your feeling cos ive been there myself, feel free to PM me if you ever wanna chat

thanks so much jaidy, it is so kind of you  i will definitly do this :D

hopefully i will get a home of my own, i will also feel more independant

and have my own space, do you understand what i mean?

Oh definately hun. Its so important to have your own space, especially with a baby on the way!! You feel like you want to nest and create a 'home' for your baby, well thats how I felt, and havent been able to do that at my parents.

Just keep on to them, phone them all the time and they wont forget you!

Also if you can back up your application with a GP's letter this also goes in your favour :D
