I'm bringing my baby home from hospital tomorrow and our thermometer says the nursery is 29c. That is with the windows open. I know its dangerous for her to be too hot, but what else can we do?

Hiya
Congratulations!

I know it's really hot and muggy isn't it!? I have a fan for when Brody is asleep, but I can't point it at him, cos it wakes him up, only have it in the room to try and keep the air moving.
I put Brody to bed either in just a vest, or a vest and a thin (0.5 tog) gro bag

Well done on bringing her home!!! :cheer:

What about getting a fan and putting in in the corner of the room? Is she going to be in your room with you? Is she on any monitors (like an apnoea or Graseby?) because fans can affect their motion sensors if they are too close. Damien is in my room still so if the temperature changes I can switch the fan on/off. If she is in her own room, I'd get one you could put on a timer so you can set it to be on for so long before she goes in there and maybe a little while that she is in there before switching itself off? That's what I do, so I can fall asleep with it on, but it turns off before the temperature dips in the middle of the night.

When it's that temp Ella is in a 0.5tog grobag and nothing else. As she's a little un might be best to put her in a loose top and a 0.5grobag, though I think they have to be a certain weight to go in them (Ella was in them from a week old though and she was 6lb 8.5oz at birth).

Congratulations on bringing her home

I use a fan in the bedroom to keep him cool and he sleeps in a t shirt and nappy.
