Really concerned that I have harmed my baby by having really hot showers. My temp when I just got out was 37.4 and I had the water running on my belly whilst lying down as I felt so sick. Really worried now. I've had a lot of hot showers since being pregnant. Really concerned now :-(

Don't worry hun baby will be fine. I was in hot tubs for first few weeks of my pregnancy as I had no idea I was even pregnant and all was fine. I maintaim women who live in veneers hot climates have babies fine so a few hot showers won't have done any harm. Just cool them down so you don't faint! X

Thank you for replying. Just annoyed at myself for being selfish and not thinking about the baby. A shower is literally the only thing which stops me feeling sick. Google really frightens me as it says you must not have a raised temperature as can be so bad for the baby. Scared I've hurt it :-( x x

I'm sure it will be fine hun :) As Lyllian said there are people who live in hot climates who are fine, and also when its summer and we are all in our third trimesters I imagine it will be hotter then and plenty of women give birth in summer! :) (although if we can really call it summer here?? lol) xxx

You wont have hurt it hun. And stay off Google!!! (sorry about my last message, phones a smart article and likes to correct what Im saying and I end up writing gobble dee gook! Glad you deciphered what I was trying to say)

Don't worry, baby will be totally fine , just have it slightly cooler for a bit, too hot might make you dizzy anyway as it can lower your blood pressure too x ive had to cut down my bath temps so most times I choose showers for that reason now, I like them scorchio!

I have a friend who had scorching hot baths almost the entire way through her 1st and 2nd trimester. She didn't know she was pregnant until 24 weeks and she had been going out every weekend, smoking and drinking loads of caffeine. Baby was born 3 months ago at a healthy weight and not a single thing wrong with him.
Unborn babies are a lot more resilient than we give them credit for!

Thank you everyone. I am still concerned :-( I didn't stay in there long tonight but it still raised my temperature from 36.6 to 37.6. Do you think this is bad?
Read on American pregnancy site that your core temperature shouldn't be any higher than 38.3. Guess that should reassure me. How hot are you all after taking showers/baths?x.

I come out looking like a lobster most days oops but I have really cold feet so I like to get them warmed up. Ur body temp naturally rises in pregnancy but as long as it's not over 37.5 for a long period of time like running fever ur wee bean should be fine xx

Had a fever the other week too so panicking about that. I am just a nightmare. I can't help worrying.
Where did you read about the 37.5?x x

It's the average adult temp anything between 36.6 and 37.5 is classed as normal hun but u will find u are hotter when pregnant. Like my bedroom is cold at night and I wake up roasting and the sweat running and its cause my body temp has raisen xx

Thank you :-) I find pregnancy so stressful. I worry all the time x x

So did I but try not to and enjoy it, I didn't enjoy it at all cause I worries so much,if I have another I'll be a lot more laid back cause I accidently did so many naughty things and she's fine (amazing actually). Try your best to relax and enjoy it cause it's all over so quick, then you'll miss being pregnant (honest you do!) xx

Well I didn't realise I was pregnant so drank for first six weeks before I realised. Not major amounts but there were a few bottles of bubbly that I bet myself up about for months when I realised. Staying on bubbles, I was in hot tubs and on same occasion saunas and steam rooms, again before I realised! I started off well after that. Cut out all caffeine, sugary drinks, chocolate, though for first three months only thing I could stomach through the morning sickness that lasted all day was macdonalds, so that was my staple diet. Tri 3 I made up for all the coke I'd missed for the last six months,I couldn't function without caffeine then, I had terry chocolate orange cravings and had one every two days in the end :ooooo'. She's in my arms just now and she's most perfect thing ever, and I'm not biased ;) you'll panic over everything you do 'wron'like I did, easy for me to say on the other side but honestly their hardy wee things really. You'll end up annoyed at yourself like I am for getting yourself stressed afterwards, promise :D

Aww thank you for putting my mind at rest :-) I had a couple of nights out drinking before I knew I was pregnant and also went to a spa where I spent time in the sauna and steam room. Guess I've gotta stop beating myself up about things really. Thanks so much for replying. What's your little bubba called?x x

She's called Caitlin. I've been so lucky she's such a good baby, she sleeps about 7-9 hours at night, on the nights she 'only' sleeps six I think we've had a bad night ;) usually goes down at midnight and that's her, I've been told for ten weeks that's rather good/very lucky! Xx

Oh bless her. What a little poppet. She is so well behaved x x

Still worrying about my showers girls. I didn't stay in for long today and when I came out it was 37.5. I cooled straight down. Do any of you find your temperature is too high after a shower? I will turn the heat down more. Weird as other day when it was on the same temp it was only 36.9 when I got out. Sorry for going on x x

37.4 really would be fine, I'm 6 weeks +5 now and at 4 week I developed tonsillitis which came with a nice fever, I was running a temp above 38 for a couple of days, all is well and I read up loads about it, I honestly think you will be ok with that temp, as people have said, maybe reduce temp a bit if you are worried but don't go having cold showers!
