I have a hospital appointment tomorrow with two consulatants about my heart murmur. I'm a little bit anxious about it, I shouldn't be as its only a normal appointment and its not like I'm having an operation or anything! lol but they did say they might have to do a heart scan. I've never had any health problems before and the only time I have ever been to hospital is to visit people and for antenatal clinics and scans. I really don't know why I'm so nervous, I'm a bit pathetic really! I've been keeping my feelings to myself because I don't want to worry OH or my parents, if they think I'm worrying then they will worry too and I don't want that so thought I would come and tell you girls about it instead! (sorry!) I don't mind if no one replies, just needed to tell someone I guess. Thankyou for listening (or reading even!)
Hope your all doing ok

hi lauranjamesnbaby
good luck for tomorrow, im sure everything will be fine.
i noticed that you are due the same day as me which is cool.
Im 21 and i live in the west midlands. me and my partner luke are expecting out first baby boy together as we already have a 4 year old son from a previous relationship xxx

hey i havent really posted much about it on here before..but i'm under investigation for an irregular heartbeat, i've had loads of ecgs in the last few months and on monday i'm having a mobile ambulatory thingy..for 48 hours monitering my heart. i was told i had a heart murmur when i was 8 but they never did any other tests i think they thought it would go away!

they found mine when they thought i had an overactive thyroid..i kept having palpitations and fainting spells.. :-( they didn't notice it when i was pregnant though which is rather worrying..
i know how you feel its been really scary i actually didnt go on oblivion at alton towers last week coz i was scared i would have a heart attack

anyway good luck let us know how it goes tomorrow! x

Hope your appointment goes well hun  I'm sure things will be fine

I'm back. Everything was fine, just a lot of waiting around. He examined me and said I've got a systolic murmur but he's not worried about it and has discharged me from his clinic but just have to keep going back to antenatal clinics. There were two student doctors in there aswel so I got examined three times which I wasn't very comfortable about because I had to undress my top half and there was only one female. But I got thouroughly checked over, even my liver and he said he was more than happy with everything and I didn't have to have a heart scan. Also got to hear LO's heartbeat which was fab, nice and strong! Good news is that I get 2 more scans!! one at 28 weeks and another at 32 weeks because they just want to make sure LO is growing as they should be (not worried though because they were perfect at the 20 week scan).
Thankyou for all your lovely messages and hope your all enjoying your day!!

Glad everything is good hun.

I have had three ECG's in the last week, feel like everyone and his wife has seen my boobs and I keep feeling the need to apologise for my huge saucer nips!!

Its good to know your having an MOT and getting extra scans is also great!

lol its horrible isnt it- at my last ECG the woman had to lift up my boob to stick the pads on so i lifted it up and said "sorry i need some new boobs" or something silly and she said "yeah have you got children"

cheeky cow!!

fran - no I didn't have any symptoms, they just found it by chance when I had a checkup, I had no idea I had it which in a way is a bit scary! You'll be fine hun but you will feel a lot more reassured when you see the docs, its not really anything to worry about, they just like to keep an eye on it but sometimes I think they like to scare us with all their medical jargon but once they explain properly (in a language we understand!) its all so much clearer and doesn't sound half as bad. Oh and feel free to ask as many questions as you like, just glad I can help!

Aramintalovegrove - :rotfl: that made me chuckle! and I think I'm ready to lose my dignity at the birth!!

Thankyou everyone for your messages
