Has anyone else had it or know a cure?! its really horrible achey pain in my right ribs and just below,i get it everynight starting around 7 o clock then stays till i go to bed, paracetamol doesnt work, cushions dont work and the consultants, midwives etc dont know what it is either.

Its making me feel really down and angry because i cant figure out what it is and no medical people seem to give a damn.

I have suffered from terrible rib ache, I think it is because Thomas likes to stick his feet hands and bottom there! It is only this last week that it has subsided and I think that is because he has dropped!

The only thing that really worked for me was lying on my back or lying on the opposite side to the pain, he favoured my right side so I would lay on my left side.

Unless of course it isn't the baby, in which case I don't really know what to suggest - a bath?

I had this for a while, I found stretching out helped, alnost as if to encourage her to 'remove her feet/ hands from my ribcage - thank you very much' - or as M said, a nice soak in the tub

not experienced this but wanted to send you a

Thank you.

How can you tell if it is the baby that has something lodged in your ribs?

It just seems a little odd that it is only ever that one side and usually only in the evening.

It has started early today though and come on already, having to sit at work and try and do stuff and i'm in agony with it.

:( Not a happy chappy.

Hi Flame my due date buddy

I get this too. I've had a few days off work recently and noticed I was ok when off work. Then when I came back to work, I had a long, long day stuck at the PC and hey presto - ribache.

Mine is usually on the right hand side and is eased a little if I stretch out. I think I hunch over my desk and my mouse arm, hence the ache on the right hand side.

Don't know if that sounds like yours?

I have this too, but it goes with pain under my shoulder blades too. Like Peanut I find it goes away when I'm not at work so its 100% due to posture and the extra strain of bump.

I also find stretching out relieves it temporarily, but agree its not at all nice.

Yesterday a woman at my aqua natal class who has the same thing told me she was told by a physio to sit on a small cushion and put another small cushion under her bump when she is at work or sitting in front of TV.

I thought I might try that.

I had it terrible in my left side rib area in thid tri...

I found heat helped-mum gave me a wheat bag that you heat in the microwave and place on the area that aches (like a hot water bottle) It really helped me

I can sympathise tho, its horrid. I was in hozzie for nearly a week @ 32 weeks PG due to chest pains, but they thought it was just muscular due the position of baby

Hope you soon feel better xxxx

I somtimes get odd feelings in my ribs, I find stretching helps, and do agree I think it is a posture thing as others have said.
I do hope it eases for you real soon Flame, very best wishes

I totally sympathise! I wrote and asked about this a few weeks ago! It's agony! I asked my aerobics teacher (she specialises in classes for pregnant women so she has lots of experience and practicle advise) and she asked exactly where it was and explained that it was probably my ribs being pulled apart or stretching as our torsos expand to house our LO's! I also saw my MW yesterday and she agreed.

Apparently the only way to ease this is to do some stretching, if cats and camels means anything to you, do them! Get on all fours and arch your back up as far as you can, exhaling, then drop your stomach down as far as you can, inhaling. Often just shifting the postion you are sitting in can help but from my experience, once it has gone past a certain point, only lying down will ease the pain!

Sorry to hear you are getting this too, the only glimmer of hope is that they have all said that it can come and go, so you might get some respite!

Thanks girls. :)

I have just sent OH off to heat up my wheat bear to see if that works.

i didnt have a wheat bear but found a warm hot water bottle helped loads, after a nice bath it was heaven :D

The Wheat bear didnt help :( Seems the only way to get rid of it is to lay down :?

Sorry to hear that Flame, I was hoping you'd come back and tell me it worked well so I could try it too!

I have a bit of pain this morning but I have just been trying to stretch it out as a man is coming to fix our phone line so I can't go to bed!
