arhgh!!! Just deleted a really long thread!! And I hardly post on here so forcing myself to write it out again!

Well went to HV at docs drop in today for weigh in -all fine but owen slightly dipped on the centile, still on same one but felt myself worry a bit, silly as know he's doing fine.

But anyway, HV seemd kinda 'harsh' and right from start made me feel flustered and judged. Mentioned that Owen sleeping better now, on his tum and she started kinda preaching how I can take one step to reduce risk of cot death and he really should be on his back etc etc. Left feeling really teary and shaken and confidence all knocked. He has angel care sensor pad so hopefully ok? He sleeps so much better on his tum and lots of babies do too... I know there's quite a few pf tum sleepers here.

Surely the hv should be making me feel confident as a new first time mum, but think she was old school as went on to say sheets and blankets much better than sleeping bags blah blah. Also to top it all off, last night was his first night on his own in his room!! So now I'm worried that's another risk factor!!

Horrible health visitor, made me feel all crap :eh: think just wanted to share and some reassurance...

Toby sleeps on his tummy, I just haven't told the HV!! I cannot figure out what they do, they are paid a band or 2 higher than me for not a lot else than weighing babies and referring to the GP from what I can tell... take no notice, you are doing fab :flower:

Thanks :) Y

es, that's where I went wrong-telling her!!

She had a distinct lack of social skills. I've met a few nices ones though. And then at the end of the apt she said 'and how are you doing, how are youin yourself, do you have support around?' and I felt like replying, yes thanks, lovely friends and great husband just shame about the shite Health Visitor! (of course I didn't though, am too much of a scaredy cat for that!)

I saw my HV in passing last week, I have rarely seen a weeble move so fast, and she needed to after her comments to my DH, apparently as an adult nurse I should know everything there is to know about kids rashs... I am still fuming

haha weeble lol.

are HV above nurses on payscale?

Grrr, HV's!!
I never tell mine anything I dont want her to know. But then again they've never shown much interest anyway!

 I'm sure LO is doing just fine. x

Snap - I don't tell them lo slept on her back nor my other girls - and i surely would not tell her i started weaning at 12 weeks! We shouldn't feel like we have to bend the truth - thankfully you don't see them after a while lol!
Sounds like your doing a fab job hun, just trust your instincts you know whats best for you babe x

I hated mine , I still hate taking Aoibheann for check-ups I always walk out a tearful mess thinking im no good . Sometimes I'm afraid of her lol , and me with an early childhood education degree !!

yup same here!!! I breathed a sigh of relief when my HV said she wouldn't contact me again until Ross is a year old!! They really are the strangest bunch of people! Minchin if you are happy and baby is happy and thriving then that's all that matters hun!! xx

Hugs x I let Seb sleep on his tummy during the day but at night, even with the angelcare, I'm too terrified to let him!

Really sorry you have a horrid hv! Hugs x

thanks ladies :)
good to know other people feel similar!
After that hv visit OH ane me straight ongoogle looking again at tummy sleeping and feeling worried :( Straight away he said do a thread on pf and see what the girls say, so good to have you lot to ask advise and share stress at any time of day or night:thanks:

Don't worry Hun my health visitor said "has she always had that LUMP on the side of her head" so tactful!! I wanted to smack her clean in the face!!!! She hasn't got a lump, babies heads are never even shapes their bones are still soft!! I asked the doctor if he thought something was wrong and he said no it's perfectly normal, which Is the kind of thing you want to hear!! I hate health visitors!!!!! They are shite!!!! :) just do what u want to do you know what's best for your baby x

I actually love my HV *blushes* x

Honestly minchin, if you've reduced all the other risks like not smoking, keeping room right temperature, feet to foot etc then tummy sleeping is fine x I usually end up with Seb in bed with me and my hv was fine with it as she established we'd reduced the risks x

thanks.
I mentioned i reduced the other risks etc but she kinda didn't listen. Although he's not in our room anymore...but we have the sensor pad so that's peace of mind. I see different ones at the drop in clinic so will somehow aviod her next time!! It's good practise I suppose to tets my confidence and just believe in my instincts and that I'm doing the right things by us, hard sometimes though!

Def hard sometimes!!!! x
