Has anyone else experienced painful Braxton hicks? I've been getting them over the last few days but last night they were too painful and constant for me to sleep! I've had a few today but not as frequent as last night but today they have been even more painful! Has anyone else had this? I've been told BH are supposed to be painless but these definitely aren't xx

Sounds like it could be actual labour pains rather than braxton hicks.

If it's your first you can have contractions for a while as it's thinning your cervix ready for birthing.

Yeah it is my first so I have no idea what anything feels like! I haven't had a show or waters breaking but am getting quite a lot of painful tightenings! Everyone always says you know when you're in labour but I haven't got a clue lol xxxxx

I had some very strong braxton hicks the couple of days before I went into labour last time so it does sound like you could be in very early labour x

Some people have told me that it wasn't obvious for them when BH progressed to actual labour. Sounds like you could be on your way! Keep an eye on how regular they are. I was also told that if a warm bath or changing positions eases the pain significantly then they are probably not real contractions yet. Not everyone has a show or have their waters break. If in doubt or concerned, ring your labour unit and have a chat with them.

I was guna suggest it could very well be labour. Give your mw a call.

I have this too!! It's driving me insane.... this is baby #2 for me and I keep thinking it's the start of labour but it does not progress at all. I would say if pain gets worse, more intense or they become regular give your MW a call. It could just be your body getting prepared as false starts are not uncommon but either way I would say labour is not far off. Good luck hun and keep us posted. X
