Hi, just wondering if anyone knew anything about hormonal imbalances?

Since coming off the pill I've not had a period (acceptable right?)

But Ive gained weight, my skins gone quite bad and I've got dandruff!

Someone said to me this could be a hormonal imbalance?

Everything you list here is symptomatic of PCOS, which itself is caused by a hormonal imbalance in the body. Other implications (things which you may or may not have noticed) are low energy levels, blood sugar issues (frequently diabetes), hypothyroidism (often the cause of the weight gain), and excess body hair. Even with just what you've mentioned there, I'd say go to your doctor and see if you can get a blood test done for PCOS - if they say there's a probability there, they might send you for a scan to see what's going on.

I suggest starting with a good vitamin supplement, a good diet free of high-sugar and high-carb foods (avoid caffeine as well -drink lots of water!), and some agnus castus to help regulate the pituitary gland (the hormone centre of the body).

Hope all gets sorted for you!

ahh, it doesnt necessarily mean an imbalance as such, just your body going haywire for a time beofre eventually settling down into regularity again, when i first came off pill body played all sorts of tricks on me, you need to be prepared to give your body time to recover from all those artificail hormones and be natural again. Its amazing how the body will sort itself out again, just give it time.

Other things that can cause these probs are: wanting a baby too much and thiking about it all the time - can actually physically affect your cycles

Lack of sunshine - especially at this time of year - regular walks outside help

If i were you id eat well, sleep well and generally look after yourself. Things will come right :)

Yeah, I suppose it does depend on how long you've been off the pill, hon. If you've just come off, your body will probably sort itself out. If you've been off for a while and still no sign of normality, I'd get it checked out.

Thanks girls.

I will give it another month or so because this is my 3rd month w/o a period.
I didn't think it would that too long because I was only on the pill for just under 2 years.

I will keep an eye though and I might look up PCOS just to see.

Thanks for all your help, xxx
