ok well we have decided on the name Ryan but i wanna have ronaldo as his middle name. Ryans daddy is a huge Man u fan and kinda looks like christiano ronaldo. and also ryans dad is called christian so he gets called ron at work and ronaldo is his idol. i ahvent said anything to him about it yet but do you think its stupid cos his name will be Ryan Ronaldo Butterfield lol

im not keen on it to be honest, how about calling him Ryan Christian instead that sounds nice and it will make his dad proud, my Boy is named after his daddy..Glenn, we have had a few funny looks as its quite an old name but like i say.....its your baby you name him what you want it doesnt matter who like it as long as you do.x

My ex's nephew is called Shaun Thierry after Thierry Henry, he's three now and Thierry henry doesn't even play for Arsenal anymore. I think it's not a good idea to be honest. Even if Ronaldo moved teams he'd still be a great player, but what if he moved to a team your OH hates? and by the time your little one is older Ronaldo might be a has been. It would't be so bad if it was a normal english name (like wayne after rooney) because then it could just be a name, but having something like Ronaldo is quite obvious.

I love it!!! We have a good friend who called his first son Ronaldo and his second son Christiano. They are olive skinned, dark hair and it really suits them

my oh is man u fan too but no way would i call child ronaldo, simply beacuse if he moved to liverpool for example it would be shocking and he might beforgotton about in 10yrs time and your kid is called this funny name ronaldo. personally id link it by using christian your ohs name and also ronaldos, or call him christiano?

i like ryan and the idea of naming him after someone is nice but like someone said i wouldnt use something as obvious as ronaldo, id use christian

Erm there is also the other even more famous footballer known round the world as Ronaldo. People might not really know who he is named for.

I'd not use it as it doesn't really work with Ryan tbh. If it went with the other names and flowed it probably would sound a lot better. But you'd need something Potugese/Spanish sounding or else something English that jelled with it.
