So I have my 20 week scan in 2 weeks and I'm one of these women that have to be super organised and I really want to have a name picked out (although I am aware some people change their minds once baby is born). I'd happily settle for a 'top 3'. Please help ladies.

I was set on Briar Rose for a girl, I personally think its a beautiful name but I've been put off as family members were making very nasty comments which really upset me. I'm now totally in love with Delilah, which would be shortened to Lilah. Mum and brother hate it but I'm not overly fussed as I don't feel Delilah is as 'out there' are Briar. Do any of you ladies have any other suggestions for me? I like uncommon/unusual names.

I have no idea about boys names. My mum suggested Quinn but I want the middle name to be 'Blair' (my brothers name) but the surname is also 1 syllable so it really doesn't flow. Not keen on the name either to be honest. I liked Mylo, but according to everyone I've mentioned it to, it's a dogs name. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Again, uncommon/unusual xx

I love the name Nyla (or Nylah) for a girl.
Some say it is Irish and means 'champion' but others say its Arabic.

Quite a sweet name but my best friends baby is Mylah xx

I love Lilah (Lyla), it was on my top 5 when having dd. We also liked Lana/Lara. I also love Seren. Is Briar Rose not the name of one of the Disney princesses? Not sure which one.

Boys names I loved Dexter, but wasn't brave enough to use it. I like Aston and I love Sidney & Stanley x

Yeah it's sleeping beauty! I didn't actually know that until a friend told me.

Dexter is a cute name but it's my aunties dogs name haha. I love Stanley, so so cute. I also love Mack but my family hate it xx

Don't worry What your family says if you love a name then use it. That's why we never told anyone our names because somebody was bound to turn there nose up at it. Briar is an usual name my grandads dog was called briar which I never heard of it before.

It's for this reason we've kept names to ourselves (aways from this forum) as people don't just always agree withwhat you love. So figure we'll let them know once it's too late for hem to try and change our minds! haha Saying that i don't think we're going very unusual as favourite at the moment is Maggie with the middle name of Elliot, the middle bit is the only bit i think they may find odd but i love it as a girls name (or boys really) and we did consider it as first name.

We didn't get far thinking about boys names, i like Milo and also we liked Magnus for some reason. Think possibly because it's not common but it's still easy to spell and say, people wouldn't struggle.

most important is go with what you love :)

We found girls names hard, we named my LO harper-Rae, but after she was born I really liked Brianna (love bree for short) and reeva.

Boys names I like are Finn, Jensen, Ari, Jared. X

Just go for whatever name you like. I'm unsure wherever my family will like my boys name, but me and my OH do, and that's what matters.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of unusual or uncommon names!

I love unusual names also so loved reading this thread! Can't think of briar as a Disney princess ~ sleeping beauty was called aurora. Go with whatever you love, my daughters middle name is lilac which no one loved when we told them but now it has really grown on people and she is often referred to as 'little lilac.' X

I think Briar Rose is a beautiful name

Sleeping beauty is called Aurora (the Disney one anyway) but Briar Rose is the name from the Brothers Grimm story (I think... I know she was a princess in one of the original stories anyway) I remember reading it at my Grandma's house

Also don't ask families opinions on names. Next time we have one I'm not mentioning names to anyone, as people always make bad comments. Noone thought I should call my little one Mack and I got so much hassle while I was pregnant for it... but once he was born and I said ''this is Mack'' I didn't hear a thing about it

I've just been informed that Briar Rose is Auroras pseudonym in sleeping beauty the Disney version... which makes sense as it's the original name from the stories... can't believe I've just been out Disney'd by my fiancé lol.

This is reason why we didn't mentioned our chosen names to family or friends. Someone has always got an unwanted opinion. If you love a name use it, it's your baby. Once you've had your baby and said this is his / her names people won't question it.

Thank you everyone. I still really love Briar. I think I will just wait and see what fits once baby is here xxx

Briar is a nice name. not the one I really like, but the main thing you love it! Wish you best of luck and I am sure your child will love any kind of name you choose)

Thanks hun. I'm getting a bit put off as my brothers name is Blair, Briar seems a bit similar? Think I'm taking it off the list xx

To my mind these names are not so much alike. So if I really loved Briar the most, I would not care about my borthers name:) I would call my little baby "Bee". Sounds very sweet to my mind:dance:

I think Briar Rose is gorgeous!
Ive always called sleeping beauty Aurora, so i'd never link Briar to disney. But i also never listened to family or friends opinions on name suggestions.
No one was mega fussed on Noah for my little boy.. My FIL really turned his nose up about it demanding I could only use it if he was christened as its such a biblical name.
Shhh old man! Lol
I liked it ever since I laid eyes on Ryan Gosling in 'The Notebook' lol! xxx
