Has anyone got a doppler and how do you get on with it?

I'm really tempted to buy one but have read so many bad reviews about it giving false heartbeats etc I'm currently 10 weeks and have seen some videos of women using one and hearing heartbeats and would love to be able to do it at home.

Any info would be fab

I used the angel make , the most basic one with my daughter and I have to say it worked really well.

I used one with my daughter and I found it really reassuring but I don’t know that I’d do it if I get pregnant again after reading more about it.

Only a trained professional can tell whether the heartbeat sounds normal. Dopplers can give reassurance but this can also mean people don’t get checked when maybe they should as they think they’re ok because they hear a heartbeat. It can also go the other way and cause panic if you can’t find the heartbeat for whatever reason.

It’s a personal choice, if you’re going to use one id only use it for fun but never use for reassurance xx

Thanks for your reply.

I have had a bumpy few weeks with a couple of hosp trips so was thinking of getting one if my 12 week scan goes ok (I really hope it does) It would definitely just be for fun and would be lovely to hear my little sugar puffs heart every now and then

It was really fun and if I manage to stay pregnant I would definitely get one this time too

I had angel sounds with my first 2 pregnancies. I only used it in my first trimester for peace of mind.. as soon as I could feel babies movements it went back into the wardrobe. I picked up a heartbeat at 10 weeks both times. I will be using one with my 3rd but I won’t get it out until I’m 10 weeks, I’m 6 weeks at the moment. Just give yourself rules, don’t panic if you can’t find the baby’s heartbeat, limit yourself to twice a day morning and night that’s what I did :)

Also the false heartbeats thing.. you will pick up your placenta a few times which is a slow wooshing noise and sometimes you’ll pick up your own pulse. The baby’s pulse sounds like a race horse, you’ll know when you’ve got babes beat and not your own (ours is much slower)
