Home Birth

best thing to do i ask your midwife.
Im hoping for a home birth this time round but im in two minds about it.
Ill decide nearer the date.

ild never have a home birth for the reason if some thing went wrong i want every thing on hand. like the idea of getting straight into my own bed after though

Same as dionne! I thought about a home birth cos I detest hospitals but didn't go through with it! Lucky really cos I ended with a c section.

I was thinking of a homebirth with Ella but got a bit freaked out near the end of my pregnancy and decided to go into hospital. I am not a fan either of the places and hadn't even packed my bag until I went into labour as I didn't even want to think about going in! In the end I stayed at home for as long as I could and went in right at the end.

You can have a homebirth with your first as long as you're having an uncomplicated pregnancy. Some MWs aren't supportive of the idea but I believe that every mother has the right to (there's something about it in M&B magazine this month).

I'm planning on a homebirth for this one if my pregnancy is uncomplicated :)

Good luck! :D

same here, be prepared to argue but you do have a right to one unless there is any realreason you should be in hospital. Am definately going for the home birth option next time, hopefully.

what happens if you are 10 dilated and you just cant push baby out? and need a c-section imagin the pain trying to get in the amberlance ect. scares the life out of me but worse of all if things went wrong for my baby.

if you are brave anough to do it fair play ild love to be comfy in my home but way to scared

she would be able to get an ambulance. There will be a midwife there who will spot any troubles. Any risk at all and she will not be allowed a home birth. Its as safe as a hospital birth. I was going to go to a midwife unit which was 20 mins away by ambulance from the nearest hospital.

I am having my baby at a birthing centre and if i needed a section at any point i would need to be transfered by ambulance to hospital which is about 20 mins away,i was very frightened about something going wrong last minute but my midwife assured me that they can spot signs of things going wrong very early on and there would be plenty of time to transfer me so i feel more relaxed about the idea now :D xx

I am planning on having a home birth and have discussed this with my midwife and told her that I definitely want one (I hate hospitals - food, smell, infections, people etc and the fact that Paul wouldn't be allowed to sleep over with me) so she said that as long as the baby is in the right position then I can have one. I still need to get all of the equipment ready but that shouldn't take long to do. My pregnancy was classed as low-risk at my booking-in appointment at 8 weeks and still is low-risk so fingers crossed we will get the birth we want
