Sorry if this isn't the right place to post, still trying to get used to the site.

Has anyone had a home birth on here and what are your experiences? Good or bad. More than happy to read both.

I have got two boys already and am on my 3rd pregnancy, both boys were born in a CU of the local hopsital were we lived. My first I wanted at home but was young and naive and midwife seemed to push me into a hospital birth. Had to be induced in the end my son was 2 weeks late.

With my 2nd son I was due to have a home birth and changed my mind about 6 weeks before he was born, reason been is my younger sister was also pregnant just 3 weeks ahead of me, at 37 weeks her placenta ruptured and unfortunetly she lost her little boy and it put me in total doubt about having mine at home.

Both my pregnancies went really well as did my labours, no complications with either. Had gas and air during pushing but that was it.

I know I definitely want this baby at home ideally naturally without gas and air but my husband is really against it, not sure why except he tells me hopsitals are safer and I should have it there. Keep giving him all different stats but he is still against it. How can I convince him this is what I want and the right thing for me x

use ur midwife hun, no experience, but my mw is pro home births and helped settle my DH's fears

My OH has said a firm no to a home birth too :( I have a friend who had a home birth with her 2nd child and she said it was the best experience of her life!! She would reccomend it to anyone. xx

We are hoping for a home birth and all the people I have spoken to who have had one rave about what a great experience it was - even the ones who ended up with difficulties or a transfer.

Here are a few links I am going to be giving to my OH that you might find helpful.

My auntie has had her last three at home and thought it was the best experience evr - i'm planning to have this one at home - let us know what you decide x

I had a home birth and it was the best decision that i've ever made. I was lucky that my OH was happy that i wanted a home birth and i didn't have to convince him. My midwife came round to do an assessment and went through everything with us both, maybe get your midwife to go through the positives of home births and what would happen in an emergency situation.

Hope you get your home birth, i can't recommend them enough.

Luckily for me my DF was extremely supportive that I want a homebirth,
So was my midwife surprisingly! As this our first, wasn't sure they would be so supportive but they are, I get my homebirth pack in a week and half!! :)
So things are all go from then on Lol! Will let you know how it goes, I definalty prefer the idea of having him at home, our hospital doesnt let partners stay when you move to a ward, and I want my df with me the wholetime!

You should point out to your husband that people have been giving birth at home long before they gave birth in hospitals, and there babys are perfectly fine! Alot of people in poorer countries still ahve there babys at home simply because they cant use hospital.
Also at home theres only 4% chance of catch and infection etc were as at hospital its more like 23%, I guess you tend to forget hospitals are were ill people are.
Good Luck and hope you can convince him soon enough :)
