Hi everyone,

I've just taken my baby to his 2 month check up and have been told that he has a click in his hips and he now has an ultrasound booked in for two weeks time.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this or has experienced it. I'm a little nervous to say the least. Doctor wasn't very helpful when I asked about it, she only said not to worry!?
He has had three checkups since birth and only now has been picked up on???

I don't know what to look for but he seems to move his hips fine and doesn't seem to be in any pain?
If they find a problem can it correct itself or is treatment always necessary (whatever the treatment is!)?

Thanks!!!

 and welcome

Ive had no experience with clicky hips, but i would imagine that not all cases end up needing surgery. You'll get a better idea on "what next" after theyve done the x ray

Hopefully its nothing serious :)

Me My girls & I is the PF expert on this!! The GP picked up a click in my wee boy's left hip at his 6 week check. We were referred to the hospital where they did the ultrasound on both hips and could tell us straight away that everything was normal. The physio then saw us and confirmed she was happy too. She said that GP's are being overcautious these days (not everyone's experience) and referring more suspected cases. There are a few treatment options but best to get him checked first rather than jumping the gun (which is what I did!).
Good luck, let us know how he gets on!!

Isla had a click picked up at birth, and she had an ultrasound two weeks ago to check it out. We got told there and then that its fine, but the consultant will look at the pictures and let us know if he spots anything. TBH i've had a clicky hip my whole life, and its not bothered me. i know there are different severity of clickyness, mine can't be that bad.

Isla was put in to a support thing that forced her on her side, i had to hold her shoulder down while they scanned each hip. She cried a bit but i think that was because she was being forced in to a position she didn't want to be in xx
