Hi :-)

I suffered with bad hips through my first pregnancy, midwives and docs never really took much notice until it was too late to do anything - finally said around 38 weeks that I could try physio but wouldn't get an appointment in time!

My hips have never been right since, but never really seemed 'bad' enough to do much about it. The last couple of weeks, I've started noticing lots of clicking noises, especially when I'm going up or down the stairs, and now lots of pain in my right hip, making it hard for me to bend and walk for too long.

I found out Monday that I'm pregnant again :-) I'm only around 5/6 weeks so it just seems far too early for all this to start again, or is it?

I'm going to the docs Friday to get referred to the midwife, so am going to mention it to them. I just wondered if there's anything j could do to make it any easier until then? I work in a small nursery, and I just know my manager is going to pick up on it as soon as she sees me hobbling and ask if I'm pregnant again. Ive not got a problem with her knowing so early, but would rather wait a few weeks if I can, just to let the news sink in myself!!

Thanks for reading :-) xxx

I get a bit of sciatic type pain im 16.5weeks i never had any bother this early last time so hoping its not gonna b too bad this time xx

I have SPD had it from around 12 weeks it's agony waiting for a physio appointment! X

I'm not sure if it's sciatica or spd :-/ hoping the doctor may have some idea on Friday.
How long have you had to wait for physio? I'm really hoping I won't need any, but it's so sore already and in not even 6 weeks yet :-( xxx

I had some hip pain early on before I found out, walking long distances was making my hip hurt and so I assumed it was just playing up. can't guarantee it was from the pregnancy but it would make sense if it was since it hadn't happened before

How are your hips now? It was one of the things that made me think I could be pregnant! But I never thought it would affect hips so early :-/ literally within days of being pregnant. Xx

I've been getting alot of pain in my left hip after sleeping, I mentioned to the Consultant the other day and he took a note and told me to self refer to physio if I think it's getting worse so i'll see how i go.

Maybe a silly question, but how do you self refer? Xx

With me they just told me to call the switchboard in the hospital and ask to be put through to the physios and self refer.

Oh ok, sounds simple enough :-) hopefully it eases up for us all and we won't need to worry about physio.......xx

Mine started about 6 weeks this time and getting progressively worse :(

I started from 8 weeks when I had to have complete bed rest for vaginal bleeding. I didn't really lie horizontally and lied in an angle so I could work from a laptop stand. The pain has progressed to an extent that I can't help pulling a painful face whenever I sit down and stand up from a chair. In a few days I had to walk very slowly like a baby trying her first few steps in life and every step hurts. Try to relief pain by applying hot (not boiling) wet towels and ice gel afterwards every night. It gets better after some days but if you don't sit and sleep in the right posture, it can come back again. Try sleeping on your left instead of having your face up. It helps taking pressure off your central hip.

Sorry to hear you've suffered with it so much already :-( thank you for the advice, I'll have to remember all that for later on as its bound to get worse again!
It's not been too bad the last few days unless I forget and do too much. I saw the doctor yesterday, she's referred me straight to physio. She said they should be able to at least give me some exercises to try, then I should be on their system making it easier to be seen later on if needed. Just glad someone has listened to me so soon this time :-)
Xxx
